The Princess of Wales headed straight for the ticket queue as
\nshe made her first visit to Wimbledon of 2026.<\/p>\n
Kate, who is Patron of the All England Tennis and Croquet Club
\nwhich hosts the famous tennis tournament, was at SW19 bright and
\nearly but well away from the royal box.<\/p>\n
Instead, she started this year\u2019s visits to to Championships by
\nmeeting some of those queuing up to get into the grounds for a day
\nof tennis.<\/p>\n
Strolling along the line, Kate stopped frequently to chat to
\nthose waiting to get in and pose for selfies with them.<\/p>\n
Then there was a royal duty of a different kind as the Princess
\nhelped scan tickets as admissions got under way.<\/p>\n
Later, she headed inside to watch some tennis but, again, she
\nskipped the royal box. Instead, the Princess of Wales went to the
\noutside courts for her first glimpse of the tennis for the
\nyear.<\/p>\n
Sitting with former British number one and semi finalist, Tim
\nHenman, the Princess watched the country\u2019s latest hope, Arthur
\nFery, as he played out a four set win to move into the third round
\nof the men\u2019s singles.<\/p>\n
Kate also made it courtside to see Katie Swan in action against
\nMadison Keys. She had Wimbledon royalty with her for that match as
\ntwo times singles champion, Sir Andy Murray, joined the Princess of
\nWales in the stands.<\/p>\n
There was a style moment, too, as Kate chose to wear trousers to
\nWimbledon for the first time ever. Despite it being 2026, there
\nstill appeared to be some surprise that the Princess of Wales, who
\noften wears trouser suits on royal engagements, had decided to
\nditch the dresses for her visit to SW19.<\/p>\n
This is Kate\u2019s first official appearance since completing the
\narduous Three Peaks challenge at the weekend. The climb involves
\nscaling the highest peaks in England, Scotland and Wales in a 24
\nhour period. The Princess of Wales said she wanted to do the
\nchallenge as she was so glad ot be able to, after recovering from
\ncancer which was diagnosed in 2024. She also wanted to raise
\nsupport for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity \u2013 the Princess of
\nWales was treated at the Royal Marsden when she underwent
\npreventative chemotherapy after cancer was discovered during major
\nabdominal surgery. Kate later announced she is in remission.<\/p>\n
The Princess of Wales is expected to return to Wimbledon several
\ntimes in the coming days and will present the trophies at the Men\u2019s
\nand Women\u2019s Singles Finals which take place on 11 and 12 July.<\/p>\n
