Canadian rock icon Bryan Adams has a message for U.S. President Donald Trump, and he\u2019s saying it all in his latest song.<\/p>\n
On Canada Day, Adams dropped a new single titled \u201c51st State\u201d on streaming platforms and social media, and the lyrics are aimed squarely at Trump over his threats to annex Canada and make it the U.S.\u2019s 51st state<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cLet me give it to you straight\/When you\u2019re talking \u2019bout my home\/You better show some respect\/\u2019Cause we up here take care of our own,\u201d Adams sings.<\/p>\n \u201cSo let me give you some advice, mister\/You might have too much on your plate\/Go and load us up with tariffs\/But we\u2019ll never be the 51st state.\u201d<\/p>\n He also reminds Trump of the alliance between the U.S. and Canada, stating, \u201cMaybe you just don\u2019t care, but we always stood beside you.\u201d<\/p>\n As the cost of living continues to rise, Adams addresses the issue, stating that he never thought he\u2019d see the day \u201cwhere everything could get harder\/for the working man.\u201d<\/p>\n Reactions to \u201c51st State\u201d have been mixed, with one Redditor stating, \u201cYea\u2026 it\u2019s not great lol.\u201d<\/p>\n However, others appeared to appreciate the song\u2019s patriotic sentiments.<\/p>\n \u201cI could not say I\u2019m a fan of his music, but I do appreciate how he is patriotic to a country [that] actually deserves it,\u201d one commenter wrote.<\/p>\n Another stated, \u201cI knew I liked him for a reason. Good for him!\u201d<\/p>\n One American commented, \u201cI\u2019m a Michigan native and an embarrassed American, and I find it absolutely tragic that this song was even written. I love it, and I pray that we can rebuild trust and unity between our countries.
