Bryan Adams <\/strong>just released a new song for Canada Day, and the rocker\u2019s latest tune is poking fun at America\u2019s president.<\/p>\n The name of the protest song, \u201851st State,\u2019 pretty much says it all. While Adams doesn\u2019t directly mention Donald Trump<\/a><\/strong> in the lyrics, it\u2019s clear who this catchy anthem is about. “Never thought I\u2019d see the day. Never thought I\u2019d see the plan. Where everything could get harder for the working man. Yeah, we\u2019re better off together. But we\u2019re better hand in hand. But the 49th parallel has become a line drawn in the sand.\u201d<\/p>\n As if that\u2019s not obvious enough, the track continues, \u201cLet me give it to you straight. When you\u2019re talking about my home. You better show some respect. Cuz up here we take care of our own. So let me give you some advice, mister. You might have too much on your plate. Go\u2019n load us up with tariffs. But we\u2019ll never be the 51st State.\u201d<\/p>\n But that\u2019s not all, \u201cMaybe you\u2019ve forgotten? Maybe you just don\u2019t care. But we always stood beside you for that liberty we share. You can push us to the brink, but where the open roads divides you\u2019ll find a wall of maple with us on the other side.\u201d<\/p>\n Of course, this is far from the Canadian rocker\u2019s first hit. Adams rose to fame in the 1980\u2019s with chart-toppers such as \u2018Summer of \u201869\u2019, \u2018Straight from the Heart\u2019, Cuts Like a Knife\u2019, \u2018Run to You\u2019, and \u2018Heaven.\u2019 He followed these with his 1991 album Waking Up the Neighbors, which featured the classic tracks \u2018(Everything I Do) I Do It for You\u2019 and \u2018Can\u2019t Stop This Thing We Started.\u2019<\/p>\n The musician isn’t the first famous Canadian to publicly speak out against Trump<\/a>. Last year, after the U.S. raised tariffs to 25% on Canada, the country\u2019s former Prime Minister<\/a>Justin Trudeau<\/strong> said, \u201cCanadians are reasonable, and we are polite, but we will not back down from a fight. Not when our country and the well-being of everyone in it is at stake.\u201d<\/p>\n He continued, \u201cWe don\u2019t want this. We want to work with you as a friend and an ally. And we don\u2019t want to see you hurt either. But your government has chosen to do this to you. It\u2019s not in my habit to agree with the Wall Street Journal. But Donald, they point out that even though you\u2019re a very smart guy, this is a very dumb thing to do.\u201d<\/p>\n When the singer posted the protest song on Instagram<\/a>, fans took to social media to applaud the track.
