In the wake of Danny Glover revealing<\/a> Wednesday he was diagnosed with Alzheimer\u2019s in 2022, his daughter Mandisa is recalling the early signs she noticed of her father\u2019s disease. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In a new interview with <\/span>with People<\/span><\/a>, Mandisa, 50, said she became aware of a difference in the award-winning actor\u2019s behavior after he received the Oscars\u2019 Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award in 2022.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cThe history of my dad is that he remembers every single thing back to 1970, what corner he was standing on, who he spoke to, what they spoke about, what color they were wearing, everything,\u201d she told the outlet in a story published Wednesday. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cHe\u2019d tell you so much about his parents \u2014 and I\u2019ve heard those stories over and over \u2014 and pieces were missing. There would be pieces of the story missing. I said, \u2018I wonder what\u2019s going on,\u2019\u201d she continued. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Mandisa, who is helping care for her dad amid his diagnosis, added that in the present day, she believes her dad, 79, is \u201caware sometimes and then sometimes not.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Danny Glover, who also spoke to People in the interview, shared he\u2019s \u201cstill not accepting in my mind all parts of\u201d his diagnosis.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cThere are the moments that you keep remembering that validate the fact that you can remember stuff,\u201d he added. \u201cAnd there are moments I\u2019ll never forget.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

As of this year, an estimated 7.4 million Americans age 65 and older are living with Alzheimer\u2019s, a progressive brain disorder that\u2019s the most common form of dementia, <\/span>according to the Alzheimer\u2019s Association<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
