Ashley Tisdale<\/a><\/strong> is set to star in Netflix<\/strong>\u2018s Toxic Moms<\/strong> TV show alongside Ali Wong and another familiar face. The upcoming series is based on a viral essay Tisdale wrote earlier this year.<\/p>\n Former High School Musical<\/strong> star Ashley Tisdale will headline Netflix\u2019s new dark comedy TV series, Toxic Moms, also starring Sabrina Jalees (Mating Season, Search Party), reports Deadline<\/a>.<\/p>\n Written by Jalees, Toxic Moms is expected to be a half-hour comedy show. It will focus on a sleep-deprived woman, who\u2019s just become a mother, crossing paths with a group of very wealthy mothers. Once she learns about the dark side of this group, the character tries to find a way out while struggling with isolation and longing for a community.<\/p>\n The dark comedy series is based on an original idea stemming from Tisdale\u2019s personal experience. Back in January, she wrote a long essay<\/a>, opening up about the toxic celebrity mom group, which she eventually left.<\/p>\n This elite group reportedly included renowned celebrity mothers such as Hilary Duff<\/a>, Mandy Moore,\u00a0<\/strong>and Meghan Trainor<\/strong>. \u201cAfter the birth of my first daughter, I was craving connection with other mothers,\u201d Tisdale wrote in the essay.<\/p>\n Image Credit: Hilary Duff Instagram<\/p>\n While she initially felt attached to all the group members, Tisdale eventually realized she wasn\u2019t included in every plan discussed within the group. \u201cI remember being left out of a couple of group hangs. And I knew about them because Instagram made sure it fed me every single photo and Instagram Story,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n Toxic Moms will add to Netflix\u2019s growing list of female-led comedy TV shows.
