Nashville-based country rocker Kid Rock boasted about his relationship with President Donald Trump in a wide-ranging, profanity-laden interview with Australia’s Sky News.<\/p>\n
The conversation came as Kid Rock announced plans for a restaurant in Nashville he co-owns, The Detroit Cowboy<\/a>, to celebrate America’s 250th birthday by hosting a brunch buffet on July 5.<\/p>\n Speaking with Paul Murray of Australia’s Sky News for a video interview published on June 30<\/a>, Kid Rock (whose real name is Robert Richie) said that being friends with a world leader is great.<\/p>\n “I enjoy the hell out of hanging out with him,” Kid Rock said.<\/p>\n 1<\/span> of 65<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n Hank Williams, Jr., left, and Kid Rock take time out from shooting a music video at the Showtime Club on 10th Avenue South in Nashville on Oct. 15, 1999. Kid Rock came to town for a cameo appearance’s in Williams’ video for his upcoming song, “Naked Women and Beer.”<\/p>\n (Robert Johnson \/ The Tennessean)<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n Over the years, Kid Rock has become close with the president, frequently appearing at White House events and offering public support for the Trump administration.<\/p>\n The outspoken owner of Kid Rock’s Big Ass Honky Tonk Rock N’ Roll Steakhouse on Broadway also mentioned his favorite “late night drinking trick,” calling Trump’s personal phone.<\/p>\n “He’s not calling me, ‘Hey, what should we do in Iran, Bob?’ I don’t get those calls. But, if I\u2019m sitting around having some beers if it’s like 11, 12, on a Friday or Saturday, I know he’s up. He sleeps like me, he sleeps five hours,” Kid Rock said.<\/p>\n The interview took place at Kid Rock’s home outside Nashville, which he calls the “Southern White House,” and was part of Sky’s coverage of the United States’ 250th anniversary on July 4. Earlier this year, Kid Rock went viral after a pair of military helicopters from Fort Campbell hovered over his home<\/a>. Kid Rock was standing outside and saluting the pilots. The Army announced an investigation into the incident, which resulted in a suspension for the pilots. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth then reportedly lifted the suspension<\/a>.<\/p>\n Kid Rock even responded to concerns that the president’s family has increased their net worth by at least $2 billion since the start of the second term, as reported by The New York Times<\/a>. Trump’s merely a smart businessman, he said.<\/p>\n “His concern is for this country, period. This country first and I think every leader in any country should be that for their country,” he said.<\/p>\n Nashville residents who want to visit the rockstar’s eatery for brunch to celebrate the patriotic weekend may do so on Sunday, July 5.
