The Kansas City Royals kicked off the metro\u2019s holiday weekend Thursday night with one of two extended fireworks displays.<\/p>\n

The patriotic spectaculars are part of the team\u2019s celebrations for the 250th anniversary of the United States of America. Thursday night\u2019s show was a special tribute as part of the club\u2019s Armed Forces Night.<\/p>\n

The Royals\u2019 extended America-themed fireworks show, with high-powered lights and special effects, will begin after the Saturday, July 4 game against the Philadelphia Phillies at Kauffman Stadium.<\/p>\n

The Royals\u2019 regular Friday night fireworks moved to Thursday night this week because of the FIFA World Cup match between Ghana and Colombia on Friday, July 3<\/a> at adjacent Kansas City (Arrowhead) Stadium.<\/p>\n

Both fireworks shows were designed by Image Engineering and sponsored by Price Chopper and Oreo.<\/p>\n
