Taylor Swift<\/strong><\/a> is known for her love of Easter eggs<\/a> and Elizabeth Taylor<\/strong><\/a> \u2014 and her wedding could be a massive homage to both.<\/p>\n

The \u201cFate of Ophelia\u201d singer is rumored to be tying the knot with fianc\u00e9 Travis Kelce<\/strong><\/a> at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Friday, July 3, in front of 1,000 of their closest friends and family.<\/p>\n

As Architectural Digest<\/em><\/a> pointed out, one of Swift\u2019s idols, Elizabeth Taylor, was among guests at a lavish party at the very same venue in 1957.<\/p>\n

Taylor\u2019s husband at the time, movie producer Mike Todd<\/strong>, threw a party at MSG to celebrate the one-year anniversary of his Oscar-winning movie Around the World in 80 Days<\/em>, per the outlet. The bash was even broadcast on television, with CBS\u2019 Walter Cronkite <\/strong>covering the evening. (Cronkite reportedly later called the affair an \u201cessay on empty extravagance.\u201d)<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe countdown is seemingly on for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce\u2019s wedding \u2014 and fans believe the big day will indeed take place at Madison Square Garden. Swift and Kelce, both 36, have been together since 2023, getting engaged two years later. The couple, however, never publicly divulged any details of their wedding plans. \u201cI [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Taylor \u2014 who serves as the inspiration for one of Swift\u2019s tracks from her recent The Life of a Showgirl<\/em><\/a> album \u2014 played an integral part of the night, cutting into a 14-foot-high cake.<\/p>\n

According to The New York Times<\/em><\/a> in 2008, Todd filled MSG with 18,000 guests, 12 elephants, 400 members of the press, 4,000 pizzas, 36,000 doughnuts and 25,000 hot dogs.<\/p>\n

Todd, who died a year after the event in a plane crash, later admitted he had regrets about the party.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt taught me a lesson. I\u2019ll never have a party for 18,000 people. Never more than 17,500 people. 18,000 gets unwieldy,\u201d he said, per the New York Times<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Swift, of course, has a track named after Taylor on her latest album, released in October 2025.<\/p>\n
