Main-man\u00a0<strong>Mirai Kawashima<\/strong>\u00a0notes this as being as equally personal an album as\u00a0<strong><em>\u2018Shiki\u2019<\/em><\/strong>, both musically and lyrically. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From a musical perspective, if you were to place the main ingredients of Celtic Frost, Voivod, Black Sabbath, horror movies and Japan into a cauldron and stir it, you will get\u00a0<strong><em>\u2018Goh-ka\u2019<\/em><\/strong>. Numerous additional spices such as psychedelic rock, prog rock and classical music are also evident over the album\u2019s close to one-hour duration.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/P2zQI-MNNrk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>WATCH THE TRAILER FOR\u00a0<em>GOH-KA<\/em><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\">\n<div class=\"jeg_video_container jeg_video_content\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"SIGH  - GOH-KA -  the new album official trailer\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/P2zQI-MNNrk?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The album title\u00a0<em><strong>\u2018Goh-ka\u2019\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>has a triple meaning, being:\u00a0\u696d\u706b\u00a0infernal fire\u00a0scorching sinners,\u00a0\u52ab\u706b\u00a0a huge fire that burns down the world at the end of time, and\u00a0\u696d\u679c\u00a0karma.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The primary theme permeating the album is\u00a0<strong>Kuso-zu<\/strong>; a series of Buddhist paintings or illustrations depicting the nine stages of a human body\u2019s decomposition after death, created to encourage meditation on the impermanence of life, the inevitability of death, and the detachment from physical beauty and worldly attachment. It openly shows the harsh reality that no matter how beautiful you are, you\u2019ll be dead and rot sooner or later. And\u00a0<strong>Kuso-shi<\/strong>\u00a0is a poem based on these paintings. Their genre-classic Black Metal debut\u00a0<em><strong>\u2018Scorn Defeat\u2019<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0arrived in 1993, and with a subsequent journey through the strange and the psychedelic, incorporating a whole eclectic mix of genre styles &amp; ideas throughout their career,\u00a0<strong>Sigh<\/strong>\u00a0has remained a vital creative force in the avantgarde field whilst maintaining their old school roots, as witnessed on the 2022 album (and first for Peaceville Records),\u00a0<em><strong>\u2018Shiki\u2019<\/strong><\/em>.
