\nMadonna recently revealed that the song was written for a very specific and poignant reason.<\/p>\n
\nShe told Interview magazine: “[Lola] approached me about writing a song together as a way to heal our relationship.”<\/p>\n
\nIt marked a change in attitude from her daughter, who has released her own music over the years and didn’t want to be seen as “taking advantage” of her family connections.<\/p>\n
\nMadonna told Graham Norton on BBC Radio 1 last month: “She’s been very reticent to work with me. She doesn’t want to be perceived as my daughter taking advantage of her privilege.”<\/p>\n
\nHowever, the Like A Prayer hitmaker explained: “She had been, through her adolescence, struggling with those feelings for a long time. “She came to me, she said, ‘Let’s write a song together, I think it will be a healing experience.’ And you say what you want to say, and I’ll say exactly what I want to say.”<\/p>\n
