Legendary actress Patti Lupone<\/strong> is speaking out after<\/a> an LGBTQ+ cruise that she was scheduled to perform on was allegedly banned from Turkey.<\/p>\n

Lupone, 77, took to Instagram on Friday, July 3, to share how \u201cshocked\u201d<\/a> she was when Virgin Voyages\u2019 Scarlet Lady was denied entry. (The singer was scheduled to perform from July 5 to July 15.)<\/p>\n

\u201cA ship \u2014 a magnificent ship \u2014 full of gay men. And me. Denied entry to Turkey simply because of who is on board,\u201d she wrote. \u201cI am furious, but I am sailing, as the ship will make other ports of call.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lupone continued, \u201cI am ready to perform for all the wonderful men on this Atlantis cruise, who deserve so much better than this.\u201d<\/p>\n

The president and CEO of Atlantis Events, meanwhile, addressed in an interview with celebrity.land<\/em> how the \u201cAthens to Venice\u201d cruise will no longer be stopping in Ku\u015fadas\u0131 because \u201ca gay group\u201d is on board.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s pretty stunning, to be honest,\u201d Rich Campbell told the outlet on Friday. \u201cIt\u2019s very concerning to me when a country decides they can pick and choose which tourists are allowed in and which are not.\u201d<\/p>\n

Campbell claimed this is the first time<\/a> in 36 years that the company was \u201cactively told we may not berth here because of who we are.\u201d<\/p>\n

Authorities in Turkey\u2019s Ayd\u0131n responded that there was \u201cabsolutely no possibility of the group in question visiting our province for an event of this nature,\u201d according to celebrity.land. They also claimed that the ship was chartered by groups \u201cknown for behaviors incompatible with the fabric of our society and moral values.\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u201cAthens to Venice\u201d cruise is a 10-day excursion that is described as \u201can epic all-gay voyage from Athens to Venice to the Mediterranean\u2019s most iconic destinations \u2014 Mykonos, Santorini, Istanbul, Dubrovnik, and more.\u201d<\/p>\n
