Savannah Guthrie<\/strong><\/a> opened up about the \u201cunending trauma\u201d that she has suffered amid her mother Nancy Guthrie<\/strong>\u2018s disappearance.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is five months of agony and unending trauma for our family,\u201d Savannah, 54, said in a statement to local Arizona news outlet KOLD News 13<\/a> on Wednesday, July 1. \u201cThere is not a moment that goes by that we aren\u2019t actively trying to find our mom.\u201d<\/p>\n

Savannah issued a thank you to \u201cthe people of Tucson for holding her in their hearts, as well as both the FBI and the Pima County Sheriff\u2019s Office for their tireless work on behalf of our family. Bring her home.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos<\/strong> told KOLD that the investigation into Nancy\u2019s disappearance is still active.<\/a><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tToday\u2018s Savannah Guthrie has opened up over the years about her close-knit bond with mom Nancy Guthrie. Savannah and her siblings \u2014 sister Annie and brother Camron \u2014 were raised by Nancy and dad Charles before his death at age 49 from a heart attack. \u201c[My mom] is strong. She\u2019s like hard, iron, granite strong,\u201d [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cEspecially when you throw in genealogy \u2014 now, you\u2019ve got \u2026 this may not be the bad guy, but this person might be the bad guy\u2019s relative three times over,\u201d he added. \u201cSo, that has to be broken down to see if this might be someone of interest to us.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nancy was reported missing<\/a> after she was last seen on January 31. Early on in the case, Nanos noted that there were \u201cconcerning circumstances\u201d found at the 84-year-old\u2019s home.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s very alert. She\u2019s of good, sound mind,\u201d he told reporters in February, adding that Nancy was \u201cnot in good\u201d physical health. \u201cI hope we find her safe and sound, but we can\u2019t ignore what\u2019s in front of us.\u201d<\/p>\n

Throughout the months-long investigation, several ransom letters were received by TMZ and local news outlets. The FBI also released photos and video footage of an unidentified subject outside of Nancy\u2019s Arizona home as authorities and the Guthrie family offered rewards for information about her whereabouts.<\/p>\n

\u201cSomeone needs to do the right thing. We are in agony,\u201d Savannah told Hoda Kotb in an emotional interview before officially returning to the Today show in April. \u201cAnd to think of what she went through. I wake up every night in the middle of the night. Every night. And in the darkness, I imagine her terror. And it is unthinkable.\u201d<\/p>\n
