Pen\u00e9lope Cruz<\/strong><\/a> revealed that she suffered from several brain aneurysm \u201cscares\u201d in recent years.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have had many scares like that,\u201d The Invite<\/em> actress, 52, said in an interview Net-a-Porter<\/em><\/a> published on Monday, July 6. \u201cFortunately, I\u2019m fine, it was a false alarm.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cruz, who shares son Leo, 15, and daughter, Luna, 12, with husband Javier Bardem<\/strong>, explained that the health issues inspired her to make sure she was on the right path for her well-being.<\/p>\n

\u201cI worry about staying healthy, taking care of myself,\u201d she explained. \u201cI don\u2019t drink, I don\u2019t smoke, I really don\u2019t party. Without health, we have nothing. You talk about real equality? Why don\u2019t we start with health?\u201d<\/p>\n

During the film\u2019s premiere at Cannes in May, the actress, who plays a cabaret performer in the Spanish film, revealed that a doctor told her about the health issue before one of her night shoot sequences.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re about to go out, I was putting on my wig, and they said, \u2018Oh, apparently you have some brain aneurysm,\u2019\u201d she recalled of the instance at the film\u2019s festival screening, per Variety<\/em><\/a>. \u201cI thought I was about to die. This is something that was totally surreal in my life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cruz explained she took the rest of the evening off and was medically cleared by a doctor to continue the production.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought, \u2018It\u2019s a total miracle,\u2019\u201d she reflected. \u201cI have to, I must have this in me.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actress added that the health scare also made her performance and connection to the film\u2019s crew stronger.<\/p>\n
