The hosting lineup on NBC<\/a>\u2018s Today<\/a> is missing one of its most memorable faces this week.<\/p>\n Al Roker<\/a> was absent from the Monday, July 6, episode of the morning show, with Dylan Dreyer<\/a> taking over weather reporting duties in his place. Later that morning, Craig Melvin<\/a> revealed the length of Roker\u2019s absence during the third hour of Today.<\/p>\n \u201cAl [is] enjoying the week off,\u201d he confirmed. Kaylee Hartung filled in for Roker on the third hour of Today, while Dreyer once again stepped in for him on the show\u2019s Tuesday, July 7, episode.<\/p>\n The hosts didn\u2019t confirm the reason for Roker\u2019s absence. However, it\u2019s common for the TV personalities to take multiple days off at a time during the summer to enjoy vacation with friends and family. Episodes of Today With Jenna & Sheinelle were prerecorded<\/a> last week as Jenna Bush Hager<\/a> and Sheinelle Jones<\/a> took a break from the series.<\/p>\n For Roker, his latest Today break comes after a busy weekend. On Saturday, July 4, he and many of his fellow Today hosts took over Weekend Today<\/a> to celebrate America 250. Melvin and Savannah Guthrie<\/a> reported live from Governors Island in New York City, while Roker,\u00a0Bush Hager, and Dylan Dreyer reported from different ships in the New York Harbor.<\/p>\n At one point, Roker and Bush Hager tried to get each other\u2019s attention as their ships sailed close to each other. \u201cTwo ships passing in the *daytime*,\u201d Today\u2019s official Instagram page captioned the funny clip<\/a> on Saturday. Kristopher Ensley as she lead the parade of #tallships for @sail4th250 celebrating our nation\u2019s 250th birthday,\u201d he captioned the Sunday, July 5, post<\/a>. \u201cI got to see firsthand how the cadets and the crew live their motto, #semperparatus And a thank you to my @nbcnews crew of @jennifer_k_long @flickerflyproductions Bruno Trepanier and @audiobobby @nbcinthefield.\u201d<\/p>\n He continued to give fans glimpses into his family\u2019s Fourth of July celebrations via Instagram, including sharing a video<\/a> of their holiday food spread and an adorable snap of his granddaughter, Sky.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s great to see my granddaughter takes after her Pop-Pop when comes to being serious and dignified,\u201d Roker lovingly captioned the Instagram pic<\/a> on Monday. (Roker\u2019s eldest daughter, Courtney, and her husband, Wesley Laga, welcomed Sky in 2023.)<\/p>\n Fans gushed over the sweet photo in the post\u2019s comments, with one user writing, \u201cLooks like her daddy with her grandpa\u2019s funny side.\u201d Another added, \u201cOH MY GOODNESS!!!
