You can pre-order it <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/alabamashakes.lnk.to\/IMUSTBEDREAMINGPS\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a> and view a trailer and the artwork below.<\/p>\n<p>They are also set to share the latest single from their third studio album, \u2018I Feel Hope Coming\u2019 this Friday (July 10).<\/p>\n<p>The band \u2013\u00a0comprised\u00a0of\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/brittany-howard\">Brittany Howard<\/a>, Heath Fogg, and Zac Cockrell \u2013 went on hiatus back in\u00a02018, only to return last August\u00a0with their first\u00a0new music\u00a0in 10 years,<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/alabama-shakes-release-another-life-their-first-new-song-in-10-years-3888911\">\u00a0\u2018Another Life\u2019, which saw the band venture further into 1960s British soul and rock<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year they followed it up with the political single \u2018<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/alabama-shakes-show-a-snapshot-of-what-were-living-through-in-2026-on-the-howling-american-dream-3939701\">American Dream<\/a>\u2018.<\/p>\n<div class=\"jeg_video_container jeg_video_content\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Alabama Shakes - I Must Be Dreaming (Album Trailer)\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-YuzRPzBq8Q?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s a double meaning to it,\u201d Howard said of the title of their third studio album. \u201cIt could be saying, \u2018I must be dreaming, because the world is so fucking crazy right now.\u2019 But it could also mean, \u2018I must be dreaming, because the world is so incredibly beautiful.\u2019 Both those things can be true at once.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Of the forthcoming single, Howard added: \u201cThis younger generation makes me feel hopeful because they can see through all the political lies \u2013 that song\u2019s about holding onto that hope, and refusing to give up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fogg added: \u201cI\u2019m really happy that song exists. It came from such a joyful moment of collaboration, and exemplifies everything I love about this band being reborn.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><figure style=\"width: 2000px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">\u2018I Must Be Dreaming\u2019 artwork<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p>Recorded in Nashville at Sound Emporium Studios and Blackbird Studio, the album leans into a \u201crichly textured, psychedelic soul sound while exploring love, mortality, human connection, and the increasingly surreal contradictions of modern life,\u201d according to a press release.<\/p>\n<p>It was produced by the band and producer Shawn Everett who has previously worked with <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/the-killers\">The Killers<\/a> and is currently working on <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/brandon-flowers\">Brandon Flowers<\/a>\u2018 new album \u2018Thrasher\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The record is said to \u201cexpand on the fearless musical exploration that defined the band\u2019s landmark sophomore album \u2018Sound &amp; Color&#8217;\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Since their hiatus, Howard has released two solo studio albums: 2019\u2019s \u2018<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/features\/music-interviews\/brittany-howard-interview-2019-jaime-christian-bale-alabama-shakes-2549515\">Jaime<\/a>\u2018 and 2024\u2019s \u2018<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/reviews\/album\/brittany-howard-what-now-review-3584375\">What Now<\/a>\u2018.<\/p>\n<p>In December 2024, the band <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/watch-alabama-shakes-reunite-at-surprise-first-show-in-over-seven-years-3823852\">reunited for the first time in over seven years<\/a>\u00a0at a surprise show in their native Alabama. Howard had been slated to perform the gig as a solo\u00a0act, but\u00a0decided to surprise guests by inviting her Alabama Shakes bandmates to the stage.<\/p>\n<p>Then, in January 2025,<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/alabama-shakes-tease-first-new-material-in-eight-years-3832703\">\u00a0they shared some photos of themselves in the studio<\/a>, telling fans they were \u201cworking on some exciting stuff!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>They are currently continuing as a three-piece, with former drummer Steve Johnson absent.
