Anne Hathaway<\/a>, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Samantha Morton, Zendaya, and Charlize Theron in The Odyssey, the new Sir Christopher Nolan-directed epic fantasy film, and Tom has admitted to being amazed by the scale and ambition of the movie.<\/p>\nSpeaking to Extra, Tom recalled: “I remember we were on the beach in Morocco and I kind of got to where the set was and, you know, the A.D. said, \u2018Just keep walking that way and eventually you will get to the crew,\u2019 and it felt like I walked for miles \u2026 It was like a boat, thousands of background actors, the Trojan horse, you know, fires, and all this sort of stuff but no crew. Like, I couldn\u2019t see anyone so I keep walking. <\/p>\n
“Eventually, I start seeing radios and equipment and stuff \u2026 That\u2019s like the opposite experience to what being on a film set is like usually \u2026 It felt more like a re-enactment than it did like a film set.”<\/p>\n
Tom compared shooting the scene to landing on a beach because he felt so isolated.<\/p>\n
\nThe Hollywood star – who is married to Zendaya, his co-star in the movie – shared: “It almost felt like I\u2019d kind of gone back in time and just, like, landed on this beach. It scared the s*** out of me.”<\/p>\n
\nTom previously revealed that he joined the cast of The Odyssey before even reading the script.<\/p>\n
\nThe actor admitted it was a “phone call of a lifetime” when he was offered a role in the movie.<\/p>\n
\nTom told Good Morning America: “All I can say is that I\u2019m incredibly excited. And obviously honoured, but that\u2019s all I can say because, to be honest, that\u2019s all I know.”<\/p>\n
\nTom – who is best-known for his appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – likened receiving the call to being cast as Spider-Man.<\/p>\n
\nHe shared: “When the opportunity came in, it was the phone call of a lifetime. <\/p>\n
\n“It was reminiscent of getting the call about ‘Spider-Man’ 10 years ago. It\u2019s an amazing thing for me. I\u2019m super proud and I\u2019m really, really excited.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
