Adam Sandler<\/a> is best known for his hit movies, but offscreen, the actor and producer is just as devoted to another passion: basketball.<\/p>\n Hours before officiating<\/a> Taylor Swift<\/a> and Travis Kelce<\/a>\u2018s wedding on July 3, Sandler was spotted playing pickup basketball<\/a> on outdoor courts in New York City in the middle of a heat wave. Then, less than 48 hours later, the 59-year-old Grown Ups<\/em> star made headlines again for his love of the game.<\/p>\n After jetting to Nantucket, Mass., following the star-studded ceremony, Sandler called the Nantucket Police Department\u2019s non-emergency line to ask where he could find a pickup basketball game, public safety dispatcher Chris Reynolds told the Nantucket Current<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cSandler said, \u2018Hey, I\u2019m here on your island and I like to play basketball. Can you tell me where there\u2019s a basketball court I could play on?\u2019 \u201d Reynolds told the outlet.<\/p>\n Reynolds ended up directing Sandler to the Backus Lane court off Surfside Road, where he joined a game with some locals. One of the players, Andrew Kesler, told the Current<\/em><\/a> that he and his friends were playing a game when Sandler got out of his car and asked to join.<\/p>\n \u201cAdam Sandler rolled in a car and started playing pick ups with the boys,\u201d Kesler said. \u201cHe\u2019s like \u2018guys let me stretch I\u2019m going to hop in.\u2019 \u201d<\/p>\n As for his hooping? \u201cGreat passing and playmaking, decent lay-ups, hesitated to shoot the ball,\u201d Kesler said.<\/p>\n Sandler first connected with Kelce on the set of the 2025 Netflix comedy Happy Gilmore 2<\/em>, in which the football star had a cameo. The Wedding Singer<\/em> star previously talked about his respect for Kelce, calling him \u201csuch a gentle, nice guy, and funny as hell\u201d in an interview with Entertainment Tonight<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s like the guys I grew up with,\u201d he said at the time. \u201cWhen I was with Travis, it reminded me of my buddies in high school and just being able to laugh and say the things you want to say.\u201d<\/p>\n
