Missouri-born blues and soul artist Meaza Joy has found a fitting home at Blind Pig Records, a label with deep roots in the genre\u2019s past and a clear eye on its future.<\/p>\n
Pronounced MAH-zah<\/em>, Meaza Joy isn\u2019t arriving quietly. She\u2019s already built a reputation the old-fashioned way\u2014onstage, night after night\u2014earning her stripes across the country from Mississippi Delta circuits to Chicago mainstays.<\/p>\n Blind Pig clearly took notice. Label executive Jeff Schroedl put it plainly: \u201cMeaza has a voice that stops you cold\u2014full of soul and feeling, and you don\u2019t forget it.\u201d That kind of endorsement doesn\u2019t get handed out lightly, especially from a label that\u2019s worked with some of the most respected names in blues.<\/p>\n But it\u2019s not just the voice. There\u2019s substance behind it. Schroedl emphasized that her songwriting \u201cadds another dimension,\u201d hinting at an artist who isn\u2019t just interpreting the blues\u2014she\u2019s contributing to its ongoing story.
