Green Day<\/a> have announced the soundtrack to the upcoming movie NIMRODS<\/em><\/a>, and have unleashed the new single \u201cI\u2019m Never Gonna R.I.P.\u201d<\/p>\n

The comedy film centers on three friends in a garage band who venture on a road trip with the belief that they\u2019re opening for Green Day at a New Year\u2019s Eve gig in Los Angeles. The movie, which hits theaters on August 14th, was co-produced by Green Day\u2019s Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tr\u00e9 Cool.<\/p>\n

The NIMRODS<\/em> soundtrack, which arrives July 31st (pre-order here<\/a>), contains 30 tracks of mostly Green Day songs, as well a few tunes by the aforementioned fictional band Analog Dogs, along with cuts from The Paradox, Ultra Q, and actress Mckenna Grace, who co-stars in the film.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m Never Gonna R.I.P.\u201d has a 1950s rock \u2018n\u2019 roll vibe in the vein of Elvis Presley, Bill Haley & His Comets, and Chuck Berry. It marks the first new Green Day music since 2024\u2019s Saviors<\/em> album.<\/p>\n

Heavy Consequence<\/em> spoke with Green Day bassist Mike Dirnt<\/a> in late 2025, and he told us of the film, \u201cIt\u2019s got a lot of heart. It\u2019s triumphant, it\u2019s hilarious, and it\u2019s got some really heartfelt moments in there, too\u2026 It basically follows the story of a band and their adventures trying to get across the country to open for us. And they mimic adventures that actually happened to us, and things that actually happened to us when we were touring in vans back in the day.\u201d<\/p>\n
