\n\tEd Sheeran<\/a> is set to switch labels after 15 years, with the singer-songwriter on track to ink a new deal with Interscope<\/a> Records, Rolling Stone<\/em> has confirmed. The news was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n \n\tThe change is a big one for Sheeran, who\u2019s spent the entirety of his career so far<\/a> at Warner Music Group<\/a>. His deal with WMG ended earlier this year<\/a>, and by jumping to Interscope, he\u2019ll now be under the umbrella of Universal Music Group<\/a>, the largest major label in the world.\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tThe terms of Sheeran\u2019s Interscope deal were not disclosed. According to THR<\/em>, it\u2019s expected to be a long-term arrangement, though it\u2019s unclear how many albums Sheeran has signed on to make.\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tA rep for Sheeran did not immediately return a request for comment.\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tSheeran signed with WMG, via its imprints Asylum and Atlantic in the U.K., in 2011. That same year he released his blockbuster debut, + (Plus)<\/em>, which contained hits like \u201cThe A Team,\u201d \u201cLego House,\u201d and \u201cYou Need Me, I Don\u2019t Need You.\u201d Over the next 15 years, Sheeran established himself<\/a> as one of the most dominant singer-songwriters in pop, with four of his albums going to Number One in the United States. He also scored a pair of Number One hits on the Billboard <\/em>Hot 100 \u2014 \u201cShape of You\u201d and \u201cPerfect\u201d \u2014 while also notching a string of additional multi-platinum Top 10 singles.\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tIn total, Sheeran released seven albums through WMG, including all of his math-themed albums + (Plus)<\/em>, x (Multiply)<\/a><\/em>,\u00f7 (Divide)<\/a>, = (Equals)<\/a><\/em>, and \u2212 (Subtract)<\/a><\/em>. His run also included his 2019 LP, No.6 Collaborations Project<\/em>; his most recent album, Play<\/em>; and 2023\u2019s Autumn Variations<\/em>, which was released through Sheeran\u2019s own Gingerbread Man label via WMG.\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tWhile Sheeran has remained one of the biggest stars on the planet, his most recent releases haven\u2019t reached the same commercial heights as his earlier material. After a run of platinum albums, neither \u2212 (Subtract)<\/em>, Autumn Variations<\/em>, or Play <\/em>earned the same certification from the RIAA. Play<\/em>, meanwhile, reached a peak of Number Five on the Billboard <\/em>200 before dropping off the chart after five weeks. <\/p>\n
