In <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pastemagazine.com\/music\/heather-the-jerk\/heather-the-jerks-punk-pop-is-bratty-and-contagious-on-scroll-if-you-love-devil\">my review<\/a>, I called Wisconsin songwriter Heather Sawyer\u2019s sound a \u201chomespun DIY style\u201d that \u201cexists in service to old-world pop music.\u201d The punchy garage tones and jolts of punk-pop called to mind Brill Building singalongs but with extra sharp fangs. Tracks like \u201cI\u2019m On My Way\u201d and \u201cBahboozay (Ode to a Cat)\u201d deployed an onslaught of bratty guitar fuzz and head-rattling drums that I haven\u2019t stopped thinking about. I could try coming up with something new to say about the album, but I think I nailed it four months ago: \u201cThe sonic fuckery of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Scroll If You Love Devil <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">burns fast and high.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!-- RevContent  \n\n<div id=\"revcontent-hidden\"> -->  <!-- revisit --><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now, MPLS LTD is readying a vinyl release of the album with four new songs not originally featured on the cassette edition. The wax won\u2019t be ready until August 27, but hopefully Sawyer\u2019s new single, \u201cWrite A Letter,\u201d can hold you over until then. It comes with a music video animated by Horriblparty, an artist Sawyer is a big fan of. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Scroll If You Love Devil <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">should be a bigger album, so I\u2019m glad we\u2019re getting four extra Heather the Jerk songs from that same universe. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><!-- admarker --> <ad\/><!-- inline --><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Paste <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">doesn\u2019t really do song premieres anymore, but if every band in the world started writing songs as good as \u201cWrite A Letter,\u201d rock music might be able to retire its deathbed. So do yourself a flavor: queue it up and play it loud. It won\u2019t take but a minute or so. I\u2019m not one to quote press releases too often, but the copy for <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Scroll If You Love Devil <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">sums it up perfectly: \u201cThe only jerk thing Sawyer could do at this point would be to stop making music.\u201d Amen.
