THE RUNDOWN<\/strong><\/p>\n Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce didn\u2019t publicly confirm they were having a wedding<\/a> until after it happened on July 3 at Madison Square Garden. But despite months of rumors<\/a> linking the couple to the venue, the 1,000 guests they invited had no idea where the wedding was taking place until the day of the ceremony, a wedding guest told Entertainment Tonight<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n The source explained the lengths to which Swift and Kelce went to keep their venue top-secret, even as photos surfaced<\/a> of Madison Square Garden being transformed for their events.<\/p>\n In March, guests received a text from an unknown number, and details slowly came out from there about the event. At first, they were told \u201cEast Coast,\u201d then \u201cManhattan\u201d a few weeks later.<\/p>\n \u201cThe actual venue? Never confirmed,\u201d the guest told Entertainment Tonight<\/em>. \u201cSome guests didn\u2019t find out until they were already in the car.\u201d<\/p>\n At 4 A.M. on July 3, guests received a QR code \u201cwith mandatory directions to MSG. If they deviated from the route, their car wouldn\u2019t be allowed in,\u201d the outlet wrote.<\/p>\n Once guests arrived, \u201cphones and smartwatches were confiscated,\u201d the guest said, confirming NBC News\u2019s report<\/a> that the event had a no-phone policy.<\/p>\n Earlier this week, wedding guest Ashish Ferguson posted<\/a>, then promptly took down, the invitation he received, revealing the couple put their wedding date, \u201cearly evening,\u201d and then just Manhattan on it.<\/p>\n BBC Radio 1 host Greg James also spoke on today\u2019s Breakfast Show<\/em> about how he learned the venue\u2014and why he wasn\u2019t sure the invitation he got was real. (Swift verbally invited him<\/a> to her wedding in October.)<\/p>\n \u201cThe invitation arrived on my phone, in the form of a link, in the middle of the night when I was trying to get some sleep during a storm\u2026this link came through saying that you\u2019ve been invited to the wedding and it was the night before the Comic Relief challenge [which was on March 20<\/a>],\u201d he said, via People<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI had to sit with it all week,\u201d he continued. \u201cI basically turned my phone straight off and thought, \u2018I can\u2019t deal with that now, it\u2019s too mad.\u2019 I didn\u2019t tell anyone for the whole week.\u201d<\/p>\n He said the invitation was just electronic, leading him to wonder whether it was fake for a long time. \u201cYes, until we were in there, there was a huge part us, that me and [my wife] Bella were like, \u2018This could not be real. This could be a scam,\u2019\u201d he admitted. \u201cSo until we were in, we thought we may have made a big trip here [to New York] for nothing.
