\u201cGail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass\u201d<\/a> gives one the decided impression that Shaker Heights native David Wain is pretty good at making friends and maintaining friendships.<\/p>\nSure, there\u2019s the fact that the director co-wrote the cheerfully absurd comedy film \u2014 in theaters this week \u2014 with Ken Marino. The two met in New York City nearly 40 years ago, worked with in the sketch troupe The State and with whom he has collaborated on many projects, most notably the hit 2008 flick \u201cRole Models.\u201d<\/p>\n
And while \u201cGail Daughtry\u201d also is chock full of other State alums \u2014 Joe Lo Truglio, Kerri Kenney-Silver and Michael Ian Black among them \u2014 it also boasts several more famous friends who appeared on other past Wain efforts, including 2012\u2019s \u201cWanderlust,\u201d 2014\u2019s \u201cThey Came Together\u201d and the Adult Swim series \u201cChildren\u2019s Hospital.\u201d<\/p>\n
Unfortunately, that \u201cGail Daughtry\u201d is chock full of celebrity cameos and boasts a fun premise \u2014 its titular heroine believes she must sleep with her \u201ccelebrity free pass\u201d to save her relationship with the man she is soon to marry \u2014 is not reason enough to recommend the movie. Despite a strong start and its fair share of laughs, \u201cGail\u201d becomes a bit of a chore as it flails about wildly in the general direction of a conclusion.<\/p>\n
