Valerie Bertinelli is reminiscing about her late Hot in Cleveland<\/em> costar, Betty White<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n Bertinelli is celebrating the sitcom once again through Still Hot in Cleveland<\/em>, a new \u201cnostalgia-cast\u201d podcast she co-hosts with the show\u2019s former executive producer, Todd Milliner<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n In a PEOPLE exclusive interview, the actress shares that she and her costars loved making White laugh<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n More than a decade after Hot in Cleveland<\/em><\/a> ended its six-season run, Valerie Bertinelli<\/a> is revisiting the beloved sitcom in a whole new way \u2014 and no memory brings a bigger smile than making her late costar Betty White<\/a> laugh.<\/p>\n \u201cAnytime that we could make Betty giggle and anytime that Betty could just go up and giggle,\u201d Bertinelli, 66, tells PEOPLE in a recent exclusive interview. \u201cI mean, I think it\u2019s a classic by now when you go to YouTube, and you watch \u2018Bender Over\u2019 \u2014 that was her screen name \u2014 and we never got through that scene.\u201d<\/p>\n Bertinelli is referencing a now-classic blooper<\/a> from the making of the show, in which White\u2019s character creates a screen name \u2014 \u201cBender Over\u201d \u2014 to reference the end of a drinking binge. They decide to live under the same roof in their new city and befriend the quick-witted caretaker of their home, played by White.<\/p>\n \u201cTo make Betty laugh for all of us was the epitome,\u201d she continues. \u201cAnd I know Jane enjoyed that, as did Wendie and everybody.\u201d<\/p>\n Bertinelli is celebrating the sitcom once again through Still Hot in Cleveland<\/em>, a new \u201cnostalgia-cast\u201d podcast she co-hosts with the show\u2019s former executive producer, Todd Milliner.<\/p>\n Rather than revisiting each episode one by one, the pair explores the series season by season, welcoming former cast members, writers and others who worked behind the scenes to reflect on the show\u2019s legacy while answering fan questions and sharing stories from set.<\/p>\n The show is recorded in Bertinelli\u2019s wine cave and debuts first for members of Valerie\u2019s Place, her new fan community, before wider release.<\/p>\n For Bertinelli, reconnecting with those who helped make the series has been meaningful. \u201cIt\u2019s a way for me to connect with all of the people that I had so much fun with for five years,\u201d she says. \u201cEspecially being able to do it with Todd Milliner, who was the executive producer… We\u2019ve tried to sell other shows after Hot in Cleveland,<\/em> and we\u2019re still working on it, but this is so much fun, to just hang out and gab and laugh with all the people that we both loved.\u201d<\/p>\n And although White died in 2021 at age 99, Bertinelli says her presence continues to be felt, imagining exactly what her friend would have done as a guest on the pod.<\/p>\n \u201cFirst of all, she would have my dog on her lap and all of my cats surrounding her,\u201d Bertinelli says with a laugh, acknowledging White\u2019s long history as an animal rescue activist. \u201cNelson, who\u2019s no longer with us, she named Nelson first, and she also named Luna, my dog. So she would definitely enjoy that.\u201d<\/p>\n
