Born This Way<\/em> star Cristina Sanz<\/strong> has died<\/a> after experiencing issues with her heart. She was 36.<\/p>\n

Cristina\u2019s parents, Mariano<\/strong> and Beatriz<\/strong>, announced her death via her Instagram page on Tuesday, July 7.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is with a heavy heart that we share the news that our daughter, Cristina, passed away Monday morning,\u201d they wrote. \u201cShe suffered a sudden cardiac arrest while at her Day Program and was rushed to the hospital. Despite the doctors\u2019 best efforts to stabilize her heart, she did not survive. We are grateful that we were able to be by her side at the end.\u201d<\/p>\n

The statement continued, \u201cHer death was a total shock and unexpected. We will forever treasure the gift of her life. We will all carry in our hearts the wonderful \u2018Cristina moments\u2019 that she gave us.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tOn the night of June 10, 2016, Danielle Hendrix was standing outside the Plaza Live theater in Orlando, Florida, after seeing Christina Grimmie and the band Before You Exit perform, when she heard a loud bang inside the venue. \u201cThere were guys loading and carrying music equipment out,\u201d she tells Us Weekly, \u201cso I figured [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Cristina starred on all four seasons of Born This Way<\/em>, which aired on A&E from 2015 to 2019. The show followed adults with Down syndrome.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Cristina Sanz, who touched the hearts of many through her time on Born This Way<\/em>,\u201d a spokesperson for the network told Entertainment Weekly<\/em><\/a>. \u201cWe extend our heartfelt sympathies to her family and all who had the privilege of knowing and working with her.\u201d<\/p>\n

Born This Way showcased Cristina\u2019s career aspirations and her relationship with her then-husband, Angel. The pair split in 2021, citing COVID-19 confinement as having an impact on their relationship, according to TMZ<\/em>.<\/p>\n
