Leaving Selling Sunset<\/em> <\/a>after being on the show since the beginning<\/a> wasn\u2019t easy for Mary Bonnet<\/strong><\/a>, who has found herself on a healing journey following her departure.<\/p>\n

\u201cThings happen for a reason,\u201d Bonnet, 45, exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> while reflecting on her advocacy work amid an animal shelter crisis in Los Angeles. \u201cIt\u2019s kept me distracted and it\u2019s kept me focused on something positive.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bonnet said this next chapter has \u201chealed\u201d her<\/a>, adding, \u201cI thought I was saving [the animals] but I think they saved me, really. Because I was so frustrated and so over what was going on with the show and with some of the girls.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite taking a break from reality TV, Bonnet isn\u2019t ruling anything out.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know that they are switching up the cast so I hope that it becomes a more positive show. I really do,\u201d she continued. \u201cMaybe I would go back on it if it were really positive. But it\u2019s still Selling Sunset so I kind of doubt [that]. They\u2019ve said that it\u2019s going to be more positive and about fun for the last three seasons.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bonnet has been a cast member on the show since it premiered in 2021. After nine seasons, Bonnet shocked viewers by announcing her decision to step away.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll watch [season 10] but for right now I don\u2019t want to have any involvement in all of that,\u201d she told Us<\/em>. \u201cIt was an amazing run and I\u2019m so grateful for it. But I\u2019m needed in other places right now \u2014 and in other ways \u2014 between the market and the show and how everything changed. I have this time so I\u2019m using it for something good.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since walking away from Selling Sunset<\/em>, Bonnet has poured her time into fostering dogs<\/a> and spreading awareness about adoption.<\/p>\n
