She was eventually put in a medically induced coma. She was supposed to go on tour before the hospitalization.<\/p>\n The performer was in a coma earlier this year. mega<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n In June, reports swirled<\/a> she woke up from her month-long coma, but she was still “unwell.”<\/p>\n “We are pleased to share that Bonnie is no longer in a coma, but remains very unwell<\/a> and in intensive care in hospital in Portugal. We would like to thank everyone for the huge outpouring of love and support from all over the world that we have received for Bonnie and want to tell you that she is aware of, and very grateful for, your good wishes,” a statement read.<\/p>\n The singer was known for her raspy voice. mega<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n Tyler, who was born Gaynor Sullivan in Wales, rose to fame with her hit “Lost in France” off her debut album The World Starts Tonight, released in 1977.<\/p>\n Tyler was known for her raspy voice, which developed after removing her vocal cord nodules.<\/p>\n She hit it big in the ’80s when she collaborated with producer Jim Steinman, who wrote “Total Eclipse of the Heart.” It became the fifth-highest-selling single of 1983 in the U.K. and spent four weeks in the U.S., per Variety<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n Her other hit songs included “Holding Out for a Hero” and “Here She Comes,” which earned her a Grammy nomination.<\/p>\n ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’ would remain her most enduring hit. mega<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n Tyler was surprised by her songs resonating with others.<\/p>\n \u201cI poured my heart out singing it,\u201d Tyler told The Guardian<\/em><\/a> in 2023 about “Total Eclipse of the Heart,” adding, \u201cRecently, a friend unearthed a letter I\u2019d written to her from New York back then. It says: \u2018I recorded an incredible song today. The trouble is, it\u2019s so long, I don\u2019t think anybody will ever play it.\u2019 \u2018Total Eclipse of the Heart\u2019 had to be shortened from seven to four minutes, but everybody loved it so much they played the full album version anyway.\u201d<\/p>\n Tyler is survived by her husband, Robert Sullivan<\/strong>.
