Janis Reeser<\/span> Downtown Hagerstown will host a series of free events throughout July designed to bring residents together.<\/p>\n Activities are scheduled across the city, according to a community announcement, with offerings ranging from weekly farmers markets and live music performances to outdoor films and community block parties.<\/p>\n The City Farmers Market returns several times during the month at Hub City Brewery, 25 W. Church St., where vendors will offer fresh food and locally made goods from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The market dates include July 12, July 19 and July 26.<\/p>\n The Hagerstown Municipal Band will perform at the City Park bandshell at 7 p.m. on July 12, July 19 and July 26. Performances will feature different soloists, including David Wenard on trombone, Joshua Smith on clarinet and the Hagerstown Municipal Big Band. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets.<\/p>\n The MDWK Music & Market series will take place at University Plaza from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on July 15, July 22 and July 29. Each event will include live music, local vendors and food trucks.<\/p>\n Halley\u2019s Hot Gumbo Swingtet will perform New Orleans jazz and swing on July 15. The July 22 performance will feature 8 Ohms Band, playing funk, soul and R&B, followed by Stoney Creek Bluegrass on July 29. Vendor markets will be hosted by The Outsider Social, with a rotating lineup of food trucks.<\/p>\n Community block parties will be held at several locations across the city from 6 to 8 p.m. as part of a summer outreach effort by the City of Hagerstown.<\/p>\n The first gathering will take place at Wheaton Park on July 16. A second event is scheduled for a location near East Avenue on July 23 in the parking lot behind Trinity Lutheran Church. A third event will be held at Mulberry Lofts on July 30. Additional events are planned later in the summer, according to the announcement.<\/p>\n Organizers said that the gatherings are intended to connect residents with neighbors, elected officials, city staff and local resources, according to the announcement.<\/p>\n A Summer Block Party is scheduled for July 25 on the unit block of South Potomac Street from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Activities will include inflatables, mini-golf and games for children.<\/p>\n Outdoor movie nights will take place at the City Park bandshell. \u201cZootopia 2\u201d is scheduled for July 17, followed by \u201cLilo & Stitch\u201d on July 31. Activities will begin at 7 p.m. before each screening, and concessions will be available.<\/p>\n Organizers encourage attendees to bring blankets or lawn chairs to enjoy the films.<\/p>\n Many of the events are presented in partnership with local organizations, including Hub City Brewery, the Hagerstown Arts & Entertainment District, Downtown Hagerstown Main Street and Hagerstown Parks & Recreation, according to the announcement.<\/p>\n
