Brunson asks Adam to inform his fling that he\u2019s joining the reality show<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"list-disc\">\n<div class=\"\">\n<p>The new season premieres Sunday, July 12, on Peacock<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Things get awkward in the new season of <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/married-at-first-sight-contestant-rules-to-follow-11834900\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Married at First Sight<\/em><\/a><em>.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In PEOPLE\u2019s exclusive clip from episode 1 of season 20, premiering July 12 on Peacock, a phone call gets uncomfortable when Adam, 31, informs his most recent fling that he\u2019s joining the reality show.<\/p>\n<p>Gauging Adam\u2019s dating life, relationship expert Paul C. Brunson asks Adam when the last time he brought a woman home was. Adam reveals that he brought a date home the week before, but she didn\u2019t stay the night.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI made her dinner,\u201d he says, adding that he\u2019s seen her five times.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would imagine that she would like for there to be a sixth time,\u201d Brunson says, to which Adam replies, \u201cHypothetically. She said she had a good time when I asked her if she had a good time. So she may have had a good time.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis right here could be another issue that Adam has,\u201d Brunson says to Adam and his friends. \u201cDirectness.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Brunson pulls Adam away for a private chat and tests how serious Adam is in this pursuit of love. He tells Adam to call the woman he\u2019s been dating and tell her about his participation in <em>Married at First Sight <\/em>and<!-- -->that he won\u2019t be seeing her again.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI mean, it\u2019s such a casual thing, and we hang out so infrequently, I would just send a text,\u201d Adam says. \u201cIt would be a long text, but it\u2019s not serious enough to warrant a call.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Brunson replies, \u201cAdam. Adam.\u201d He continues, \u201cI would feel better if you call. Clean slate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Adam calls the woman and tells her the \u201ccrazy\u201d news and that he\u2019s hoping to be matched with someone. \u201cI won\u2019t be able to keep seeing you, and I just wanted to say I\u2019ve had an awesome time with you. But you know what that means?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYeah, she definitely liked me,\u201d Adam says.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>Married at First Sight <\/em>season 20 sees seven couples living in Seattle put their trust in the experiment in hopes of finding lasting love.<\/p>\n<p>This season\u2019s couples include Adam and Marissa (30), Felipe (29) and Tori (32), Shawn (47) and Nikki (46), Cameron (37) and Michelle (28), Nick (31) and Courteney (28), Devin (26) and Caitlin (27), and Mecca (28) and Bell\u00e9Jolie (28).<\/p>\n<p>Joined by two experts, Brunson and Dr. Lisa Paz, the 14 participants will be guided through the challenges they will face in their marriage.<\/p>\n<p>The season premieres Sunday, July 12, on Peacock.
