Great company is paired with great words Friday at Aspen Words\u2019 2026 Book Ball, an annual benefit dinner from 5:45-9:30 p.m. July 10 at Doerr-Hosier Center, Aspen Meadows Resort, 870 Meadows Road. The evening features National Book Award-winning, best-selling author Jonathan Franzen, plus dinner and cocktails. Proceeds support Aspen Words\u2019 programs. Snowmass Live presents Comedy WKND! July 10 to 12. The weekend kicks off July 10 with a free \u201cMountainside Comedy Happy Hour\u201d at 5:30 p.m., followed at 7:30 p.m. by \u201cLeah Lamarr and Kalea McNeill,\u201d a ticketed show at Collective Snowmass Hall. Later that night, an open mic night begins at 9:30 p.m. at Rock Island Lobster Bar. The next day, a free event, \u201cFitness on the Rink led by Reem Edan,\u201d runs from 9 to 10 a.m. on the rink. \u201cSome Enchanted Evening,\u201d a golden age cabaret, will be on stage for one night only at 7 p.m. July 12 at the Hurst Theatre. Broadway stars Julie Benko, Beth Malone, Bonnie Milligan, Drew Redington, Nevada Riley, Campy Rodriguez, Michael James Scott, Christopher Sieber and Ryan Vasquez will perform. The cast collectively has more than 40 Broadway and national tour credits and four Tony nominations between them. Musical Director Andy Einhorn will lead. Presented by The Little Nell in partnership with Aspen Film, \u201cAspen Film\u2019s Cinema Under the Stars\u201d returns with \u201cOverboard\u201d to The Little Nell, July 13, at 675 E. Durant Ave. \u201cOverboard\u201d (1987) stars locals Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell in this iconic romantic comedy. The story follows a wealthy amnesiac who is swept into a working class life and ultimately finds love. The next movie in the series is \u201cWhen Harry Met Sally\u201d Aug. 10. General admission is complimentary, available on a first-come, first-serve basis. A limited number of stadium chairs and beach blankets will be available.
