This summer,\u00a0Calgary Business Improvement Areas (BIAs)\u00a0are\u00a0bringing\u00a0energy, creativity,\u00a0along with\u00a0local business and\u00a0community spirit to\u00a0our\u00a0neighbourhoods\u00a0and shopping\u00a0and commercial\u00a0districts\u00a0with a wide range of festivals,\u00a0markets\u00a0and events.\u00a0A highlight of the summer lineup is\u00a0Greenview Industrial BIA\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>Tango 2 Echo (T2E) festival\u00a0and car\u00a0show<\/u><\/span><\/a>, Aug.\u00a01\u00a0–\u00a02,\u00a02026,\u00a0to\u00a0showcase\u00a0the\u00a0area\u2019s unique blend of automotive businesses, construction\u00a0companies, maker spaces, retailers, restaurants, pet-friendly spaces, and self-guided public\u00a0art.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Known as\u00a0T2E,\u00a0a\u00a0clever play on their postal code,\u00a0the car show\u00a0event\u00a0was\u00a0born out of the\u00a0Rides & Rods\u00a0festival\u00a0founded\u00a0several Greenview Industrial auto shops coming together, including local wheel expert and motorsport\u00a0enthusiast Jim\u00a0Wright\u00a018 years ago.\u00a0Over time, it has evolved into a\u00a0large,\u00a0community -focused celebration\u00a0and this year expanded to a two-day celebration\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n “Greenview is full of unexpected moments,” says Executive Co-Directors\u00a0Deicha Carter\u00a0and Tel Bruce. “You might come for a T2E concert or car show and leave with a new\u00a0favourite\u00a0coffee shop, discover an artist’s studio, or meet the owner of a family-run business that’s been here for generations. That’s the experience we want people to have.”\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n This year\u2019s\u00a0T2E\u00a0two-day event\u00a0will\u00a0span seven city blocks and feature more than 150 classic\u00a0cars, hot\u00a0rods\u00a0and motorcycles for show and shines, alongside an artisan\u00a0market, free kid zone,\u00a0live music, a community art installation tour, live mural painting,\u00a0family-friendly\u00a0activities,\u00a0and a brand new downhill mini car derby. For the first time, the festival will also include nighttime\u00a0entertainment, with light projections, a moonlit market, burlesque,\u00a0and\u00a0high energy music\u00a0performances\u00a0featuring Yukon Blonde and the Vanishing Ones\u00a0trick motorcycle riders.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n T2E\u00a0gives\u00a0the area\u2019s\u00a0mostly\u00a0small, locally owned businesses,\u00a0many of them multi-generational, a chance\u00a0to connect with first-time visitors and\u00a0showcase\u00a0what\u00a0the\u00a0BIA\u00a0has to offer.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cAt the heart of\u00a0our BIAs\u00a0are the people, events and experiences that make Calgary unique,\u201d says Kim Mustard, Manager for The City\u2019s Major Partners. \u201cWe hope Calgarians will take the time\u00a0to experience\u00a0T2E \u2013 it is\u00a0our only industrial BIA, and is\u00a0a\u00a0unique community\u00a0mainly\u00a0centered\u00a0around automotive business culture\u00a0with\u00a0music, food, art and more.
