Zara Tindall was once again among the familiar faces at
\nWimbledon this week, but eagle-eyed royal fans may have noticed she
\nwas not seated alongside Queen Camilla and other members of the
\nRoyal Family in the famous Royal Box.<\/p>\n
Instead, Zara and her husband, Mike Tindall, watched the action
\non Centre Court from nearby VIP seating during day ten of the
\nChampionships.<\/p>\n
The couple were seated close to Red Bull Formula One team
\nprincipal Christian Horner and his wife, singer Geri Halliwell,
\nwhile Queen Camilla and Zara\u2019s brother, Peter Phillips, watched the
\nday\u2019s tennis from the Royal Box.<\/p>\n
For regular Wimbledon spectators, it has become something of a
\ntradition. Despite being a granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II,
\nZara has consistently chosen not to sit in the Royal Box.<\/p>\n
The reason lies not in family dynamics but in one of her
\nlongest-standing commercial partnerships.<\/p>\n
Zara has been a brand ambassador for Rolex, Wimbledon\u2019s official
\ntimekeeper and one of the tournament\u2019s principal partners for more
\nthan four decades.<\/p>\n
Her relationship with the luxury watchmaker stretches back to
\nbefore her gold medal-winning performance at the 2006 World
\nEquestrian Games and remains one of her most prominent sponsorship
\nagreements.<\/p>\n
Although Zara is a member of the Royal Family, she is not a
\nworking royal and has built a successful career around commercial
\nendorsements. For that reason, royal protocol generally discourages
\nmembers of the Royal Family with commercial interests from
\naccepting invitations to the Royal Box where their attendance could
\nbe perceived as benefiting a brand relationship.<\/p>\n
Instead, Zara attends as a guest of Rolex, allowing her to
\nsupport Wimbledon while keeping a clear distinction between her
\nprivate commercial commitments and the official hospitality
\nassociated with the Royal Box.<\/p>\n
On Wednesday, Zara wore a blue-and-white striped midi shirt
\ndress paired with sunglasses, while Mike opted for a cream blazer
\nworn over a blue shirt.<\/p>\n
The Royal Box itself remains one of the most exclusive
\ninvitations in British sport.<\/p>\n
Located on Centre Court, it contains just 74 seats, with
\ninvitations issued by the Chairman of the All England Club in
\nconsultation with tournament organisers. Guests regularly include
\nmembers of the Royal Family, heads of state, political leaders,
\nformer champions and distinguished figures from sport, the arts and
\npublic life.<\/p>\n
Strict etiquette also applies, with men expected to wear jackets
\nand ties and women traditionally asked not to wear hats so as not
\nto obstruct the view of those seated behind them.<\/p>\n
