Last month Kate completed the National Three Peaks Challenge, climbing the highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales in a 24-hour period.<\/p>\n<p>This isn&#8217;t for the faint-hearted and when she attended <a target=\"_blank\" data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.womanandhome.com\/tag\/wimbledon\/\" data-auto-tag-linker=\"true\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.womanandhome.com\/tag\/wimbledon\/\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.womanandhome.com\/tag\/wimbledon\/\">Wimbledon<\/a> a few days later, the Princess confessed what really got her through it. In a Royal Special of their <em>Overheard at Wimbledon<\/em> series, the club posted a conversation between Kate and retired British tennis star Tim Henman.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" id=\"elk-seasonal\"\/><\/p>\n<aside data-block-type=\"embed\" data-render-type=\"fte\" data-skip=\"dealsy\" data-widget-type=\"seasonal\" class=\"hawk-root\"\/>\n<p id=\"elk-4ac192c2-7c48-11f1-86ce-f93d2e9f14f9-2\">&#8220;Everyone&#8217;s been so generous,&#8221; she told him. &#8220;That&#8217;s what keeps you going; it&#8217;s when you know you&#8217;re doing it for a good cause &#8211; it keeps you going through the harder times.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"elk-DahqONcNr55\"\/>\n<hr id=\"elk-e1c8d692-7c54-11f1-a8a6-4b988f8d6732\"\/><a target=\"_blank\" id=\"elk-collectionwidget-15206712f656da91dfa1fad6195f8d91\"\/><a target=\"_blank\" id=\"elk-0c79cc02-7c55-11f1-b609-49ab799bc569\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"elk-e1c8d700-7c54-11f1-a4be-47260969ec01\">There will have been plenty of tough moments throughout the hikes and the car journeys between countries. Knowing that her efforts would be making a real difference was a big comfort to the Princess, who was &#8220;blown away&#8221; by the amount of money donated to The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.<\/p>\n<p>She became their Patron in 2025 and received her own cancer treatment at The Royal Marsden Hospital. The UK has basked in intense sunshine for weeks but the conditions that high up were very different.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"elk-DaI4Kr2NDUG\"\/>\n<p id=\"elk-e1c8d764-7c54-11f1-b347-67698223c406\">The future Queen was heard describing the &#8220;atrocious&#8221; rain and said that all the people climbing at the time got &#8220;soaked through&#8221;. Despite this, they all rallied and drew on the British spirit. She explained, &#8220;It was a very sort of stoically British thing to do. It wasn&#8217;t just about &#8220;quickly getting to the top&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>When she completed the challenge the Princess was given a hero&#8217;s welcome at the bottom of Mount Snowdon by <a target=\"_blank\" data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.womanandhome.com\/tag\/prince-william\/\" data-auto-tag-linker=\"true\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.womanandhome.com\/tag\/prince-william\/\" data-hl-processed=\"none\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.womanandhome.com\/tag\/prince-william\/\">Prince William<\/a>, George, Charlotte, Louis, her brother James and parents Carole and Michael.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"elk-DaavYDcjSps\"\/>\n<p id=\"elk-e1c8d7be-7c54-11f1-8f95-a548dd3f65e9\">Although it was the &#8220;good cause&#8221; that kept her going during the challenge, it was the support and love of her family that got her through her treatment.<\/p>\n<p>Prince William was given a special shout-out by his wife in the video where she first made her diagnosis public.
