\n\tThere\u2019s nothing Olivia Rodrigo<\/a> loves more than celebrating her musical inspirations. The popstar brought that fervor to a guest appearance on the latest episode of Jeopardy!<\/em>, <\/em>where she announced the show\u2019s special \u201cWomen in Music\u201d category.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019ll have clues about some of the amazing singers who have inspired me,\u201d Rodrigo said in a clip before going on to highlight Beyonc\u00e9, Gwen Stefani, Alanis Morissette, St. Vincent, and Sarah McLachlan\u2019s all-women music festival Lilith Fair.<\/p>\n

\n\tRodrigo said that she watched Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s \u201cgreat\u201d performance of \u201cIf I Were a Boy\u201d at the 2010 Grammys \u201cover and over\u201d for the Jeopardy!<\/a> <\/em>prompt. It\u2019s not the first time she made that claim. In 2022, she told People<\/a><\/em>, \u201cI remember watching it like 25 times, being so enamored with her,\u201d and added, \u201cIt\u2019s so crazy that, maybe one day, a younger girl\u2019s going to watch my performance many times and think that it\u2019s cool. That\u2019s the dream. That\u2019s all I want.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe notable No Doubt superfan clued Jeoprady!<\/em> contestants by referring to Stefani as \u201ca California girl like myself,\u201d but her connection with the band is much stronger than that. In June, Rodrigo joined<\/a> Stefani onstage for No Doubt\u2019s residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas after holding up a poster that said: \u201cI\u2019m just a girl who wants the last hug at the last Sphere show.\u201d In 2024, she performed<\/a> \u201cBathwater\u201d alongside No Doubt for their Coachella 2024 set.<\/p>\n

\n\tAs for her Morissette clue, Rodrigo made this one pretty obvious, calling the Canadian Songwriter Hall of Famer her \u201cicon\u201d and stating that \u201cJagged Little Pill<\/em> changed [her] life.\u201d It\u2019s not the first time she has said this, either. In 2021, the year she broke out with \u201cDriver\u2019s License,\u201d Rodrigo graced the cover of this magazine alongside Morissette for our Musicians on Musicians issue<\/a>. \u201cI remember having my mind blown when I was 13,\u201d she told the star. \u201cI just looked at music and songwriting in a completely different way.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI draw some of my greatest inspiration from women singer-songwriters of the Nineties,\u201d Rodrigo said, hinting at the McLachlan-founded Lilith Fair music festival. The popstar has been so adamant and open about how much this festival inspired her, that she even created her own one modeled after it: Daisy Chain Fields <\/a>festival. \u201cThe first person that I called when I decided that I wanted to do this festival was Sarah McLachlan,\u201d Rodrigo told<\/a> Diane Sawyer. \u201cShe\u2019s a total trailblazer and an incredible artist and a friend,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

\n\tFor her final clue, Rodrigo used St. Vincent\u2019s real name, Annie Clark, to try and stump contestants. (It worked). \u201cI even play one of her signature guitars,\u201d she said of working with the musician. For her Guts<\/em> tour, Rodrigo rocked out on the Ernie Ball Music Man\u00a0St. Vincent Goldie\u00a0signature guitar, \u201cShe made a guitar that\u2019s specifically designed for women because she plays her guitar really high up, and it\u2019s cut so that you can have boobs and play guitar, which is so awesome,\u201d Rodrigo told another one of her idols,\u00a0Kathleen Hanna,\u00a0on the\u00a0Music Makes Us<\/em><\/a>\u00a0<\/em>podcast.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
