Melissa Gilbert<\/a><\/span><\/strong> can\u2019t believe what she uncovered within her family.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, this has been a remarkable few weeks,\u201d Gilbert, 62, wrote via Instagram<\/span><\/a> on Thursday, July 9. \u201cA few weeks ago, I connected through an app with my fifth biological cousin on my birth mothers side @harleesco. His intrepid research ala @henrylouisgates led me to my biological siblings on my birth mother\u2019s side. I\u2019d always wished for a big brother and I found out I have three. @mattlabrat @lepracon4gold and Mark (who passed years ago).\u201d<\/p>\n

Gilbert, who was adopted at birth, said she found her biological father\u2019s family decades ago. It wasn\u2019t until this summer when she discovered additional family members on her mom\u2019s side.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy older brothers are fantastic human beings. Matt<\/strong> [Tuchscherer<\/strong>] and I are becoming especially close. The true story of our adoptions is a jaw dropper which we will be sharing soon over on @substack,\u201d Gilbert teased. \u201cI\u2019ve always said that I don\u2019t have a family tree, I have a family shrub. It\u2019s now more of a climbing rose vine. Covering an enormous wall with its many different shapes and colored blooms.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMelissa Gilbert revealed that her biological father \u201cknew\u201d she was his daughter after seeing her on television. The Little House on the Prairie star, 61, said on the Tuesday, July 8, episode of the \u201cPatrick LabyorSheaux\u201d podcast that she called her birth father as an adult to attempt to share news of their relationship with [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In a separate social media post, Tuchscherer recalled the moment he discovered he had a little sister.<\/p>\n

While he acknowledged shock over discovering his sister was a star on Little House on the Prairie<\/i>, Tuchscherer made it clear it wasn\u2019t what impressed him most about his sibling.<\/p>\n

\u201cBefore anyone asks, the part that means the most to me isn\u2019t that she\u2019s a public figure. It\u2019s that we\u2019ve finally found each other after a lifetime apart,\u201d he wrote via Instagram on Thursday. \u201cIt\u2019s been an incredible few weeks of discovering family history, sharing stories, asking a million questions and getting to know someone I never knew existed.\u201d<\/p>\n
