\n\tMost pop stars don\u2019t get politicians endorsing their songs, but Katy Perry<\/a> isn\u2019t like the others. The hitmaker promoted her new single \u201cWatch It Burn\u201d in a recent TikTok, which featured former Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau \u2014 who just so happens to be Perry\u2019s boyfriend \u2014 giving his seal of approval by letting loose to the track.<\/p>\n \n\tThe clip posted on Thursday (July 9) opens with the musician outdoors in a bus lot, singing the lyrics to her June-released song in close-up. Then, as the beat drops, she starts hopping up and down, moving backward a few feet to reveal a group of people bouncing around as well. After a few seconds, Trudeau joins in, bounding into frame and looking at Perry adoringly before hopping away, his hair flopping up and down.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cancient texts say that if you hop to this song you will get 1,000 years of good luck,\u201d Perry captioned the clip.<\/p>\n \n\tTrudeau would likely argue that his appearance in the video was another instance of \u201csupportive boyfriend duties\u201d calling. He previously used the phrase to explain why <\/a>he\u2019d skipped Canada\u2019s opening World Cup match against Bosnia and Herzegovina in June to cheer on Perry\u2019s performance at the United States vs. Paraguay face-off instead.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cSometimes supportive boyfriend duties call,\u201d he wrote on X at the time. \u201cBut you know who I\u2019m rooting for to take the Cup.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tPerry and Trudeau have been dating since last summer, getting together after the singer\u2019s split from longtime partner Orlando Bloom, with whom she shares a young daughter. In June, she and the politician made their red carpet debut at her Lifetimes Tour concert film premiere.<\/p>\n \n\tDuring a Q&A at the screening, Perry was open about her feelings for Trudeau, whom she called<\/a> \u201cthe love of my life.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cI fly super high,\u201d she\u2019d added at the time. \u201cSometimes I need to be anchored. To have that anchor finally makes me feel really whole.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cWatch It Burn\u201d dropped on June 25, debuting at No. 38 on Billboard<\/em>\u2018s Adult Pop Airplay<\/a> chart.
