Larry Birkhead, the father of\u00a0Anna Nicole Smith’s daughter, Dannielynn Birkhead, has blasted an upcoming movie about the late model and television personality and filed action against the medical doctor who was implicated in her death.<\/p>\n
In a July 9 interview with “Entertainment Tonight,”<\/a> Birkhead said he objects to the movie, “Trust Me, I’m a Doctor,”<\/a> set to be released Oct. 16, which is based on the memoir of Sandeep Kapoor, the pain management doctor who was charged with six felonies related to prescribing medications to the late model before her accidental overdose death in 2007.<\/p>\n “I try to keep peace, but when it gets to the point where someone continues to betray that trust and the promises that they made to, you know, stay out of the spotlight and quit mentioning Anna Nicole, then it’s time for me to say, ‘Look, we don’t condone this,'” he said. “We’re not involved in this production, and we absolutely object to any of Anna Nicole’s, my life, my daughter’s life, being used in a movie and being made characters out of by someone that was a doctor that supposedly people are supposed to trust.”<\/p>\n Kapoor was acquitted of all charges in 2010 after a nine-week trial.<\/p>\n Birkhead, who said he’s received past assurances that Kapoor would not talk about Smith in the media, said he has filed a complaint with the California Medical Board over his participation in the movie.<\/p>\n The late Anna Nicole Smith and Larry Birkhead of Lifetime’s “Hopelessly in Love,” airing Jan. 17, 2020<\/p>\n<\/div>\n “Nobody goes to a doctor thinking that when you leave that your life is going to be turned into a movie,” Birkhead told Entertainment Tonight.<\/p>\n You may like: <\/strong>Anna Nicole Smith’s daughter unveils new look at Kentucky Derby gala<\/a><\/p>\n “I actually had conversations with this doctor and his representatives in the past, and I’ve warned them about the harm and the emotional distress that this puts on not just myself, but also most importantly Dannielynn, and how this could impact her and the things that she sees,” he said. “And I was promised by this doctor and his representatives that his days of doing press and being in the spotlight were over. Fast forward almost 20 years later, and this doctor continues to make the rounds.”<\/p>\n Birkhead also said Abbie Cornish, who plays Smith in the film, is the latest actress to fall short in her portrayal of the late model, or characters inspired by her.<\/p>\n “I don’t think she quite embodied Anna Nicole,” he said. “That’s not really an attack on her.\u00a0I think that says more about Anna and who she was because she was so magnetic. I think it takes a lot to capture that. It’s yet to be done.”<\/p>\n Anna Nicole Smith smiled for the television cameras at the Barnstable Brown Party. He hinted that he might help in telling Smith’s story using her diaries and documents.<\/p>\n “Anna left enough things behind to tell her own story, which people don’t really understand.
