Marking 30 years since the\u00a0Sex Pistols<\/strong>\u00a0burst back onto the scene, fans will this year be able to buy\u00a0Filthy Lucre Live<\/strong>\u00a0as a 2LP red vinyl set featuring bonus tracks.<\/p>\nIt was the biggest shock reunion of the 1990s and on 23rd June 1996, Johnny Rotten (John Lydon), Steve Jones, Paul Cook and Glen Matlock took to the stage at Finsbury Park for a landmark concert that cemented their place among the greats of popular music.<\/p>\n
The incendiary show drew heavily on the classic album\u00a0Never Mind The Bollocks, Here\u2019s The Sex Pistols<\/em>, featuring defining tracks including \u2018Anarchy in the U.K.\u2019, \u2018Bodies\u2019, \u2018God Save The Queen\u2019, \u2018Holidays In The Sun\u2019 and \u2018Pretty Vacant\u2019.\u00a0<\/p>\nThe definitive double red LP and single CD sets, released on\u00a0November 20th 2026<\/strong>, will include the Japanese bonus tracks \u2013 \u2018No Fun\u2019 and \u2018Buddies\u2019 (a crowd sing-along version of Bodies) \u2013 for the first time.<\/p>\nThe release delivers a raw and uncompromising snapshot of the Sex Pistols at full volume, reaffirming their enduring influence and confrontational spirit.<\/p>\n
Guitarist Steve Jones said:\u00a0<\/strong>\u201cIt was 20 years on from when we initially broke up in \u201978 and it was always a debate that the pistols couldn\u2019t play. I think Filthy Lucre shows not only that we can play but we are a powerhouse. Long live rock\u2019n\u2019roll.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\nDrummer Paul Cook said:<\/strong>\u00a0\u201cIt wasn\u2019t all about the \u2018filthy lucre\u2019 \u2013 that title was always ironic \u2013 it was about getting the original lineup behind Never Mind The Bollocks, Here\u2019s The Sex Pistols back together and showing what we could really do. I loved it.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\nThe show came at a time of Britpop optimism and amidst the excitement of Euro 1996. The previous day, England had beaten Spain on penalties and Pistols fan Stuart Pearce and future England manager Gareth Southgate were at Finsbury Park to introduce the Pistols on stage.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Named after a 1976 Daily Express headline (\u201cPunk? Call It Filthy Lucre\u201d) the Filthy Lucre tour saw the band reunite following its original implosion during a 1978 tour of the US, and their final show at the Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco. Filthy Lucre brought back into the fold original Pistols bassist Glen Matlock, who had been replaced in 1977 by the late Sid Vicious.<\/p>\n
