Robert Pattinson discussed his approach to playing a villain at The Odyssey<\/em>‘s world premiere on Monday, July 6<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n Pattinson portrays the antagonist Antinous in The Odyssey<\/em> and the villain Scytale in this winter’s Dune: Part Three<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n The Odyssey<\/em> is in theaters July 17<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Robert Pattinson<\/a> is embracing his villainous side.<\/p>\n The Twilight<\/em> star, 40, spoke with PEOPLE about playing The Odyssey<\/em><\/a>‘s main antagonist at the movie’s world premiere in London on Monday, July 6.<\/p>\n Asked if he enjoys exploring his bad side, he says: “I do. I like lowering people’s expectations; that’s always my favorite, that’s always my place to be. Undersell and overdeliver, that’s my motto.”<\/p>\n In The Odyssey<\/em>, Pattinson portrays Antinous, who vies for Odysseus’ (Matt Damon<\/a>) wife Penelope’s (Anne Hathaway<\/a>) hand in marriage during the years the hero goes missing after the Trojan War. Antinous seeks to marry Penelope during Odysseus’ absence, take over his position as the king of Ithaca and eliminate the couple’s son Telemachus (Tom Holland<\/a>).<\/p>\n On the red carpet, he shared his personal impression of Antinous’ place in The Odyssey<\/em>. “I don’t think he’s really the bad guy,” he says of his character. “I think he’s just like. . . It’s a love story, it’s a love story. Penelope is just waiting for Antinous to get older.”<\/p>\n
