Haters gonna hate, but they need to calm down: Taylor Swift<\/a> paid for the extra police presence at her New York City wedding<\/a>, according to Mayor Zohran Mamdani<\/a>.<\/p>\n Critics of the high-profile event pointed out that the estimated 150 to 200 law enforcement officers guarding Madison Square Garden for the two-day festivities could cost the city anywhere between $120,000 and $160,000.<\/a><\/p>\n By those calculations, she paid the check before it kissed the proverbial mahogany grain<\/a>.<\/p>\n “Taylor Swift will be paying\u2026 has paid already the cost of the permit that was lodged, which was over $160,000 for that event and for the response to that event,” Mayor Mamdani stated in a press conference on Friday. “That was a permit that was finalized, I think, in just the days before the event itself.”<\/p>\n As Entertainment Weekly <\/em>previously reported, the bride and her groom, NFL champion Travis Kelce<\/a>, received a permit<\/a> to shut down the streets surrounding MSG in Midtown Manhattan for three days from July 2 to July 4.<\/p>\n They also opened their wallets to express their gratitude to New Yorkers. The day before the couple said “I do,” it was announced that Swift and Kelce had donated $26 million to 20 charities in celebration of their wedding, including several based in the Big Apple, such as City Harvest, Food Bank NYC, and New York Cares.<\/p>\n
