At 88, legendary actor Sir Anthony Hopkins<\/a> is adding a new career<\/a> to his resume.<\/p>\n

The two-time Oscar winner<\/a> has signed with music label Decca Classics<\/a> and will release his debut music recording as a composer in August. Titled “Life Is a Dream,” the collection will feature orchestral works he wrote over the past 60 years.<\/p>\n

The album will be performed by Grammy Award-winning conductor Gustavo Dudamel<\/a> and the Philharmonia Orchestra, bringing to life compositions inspired by Hopkins’ family, childhood and life’s journey.<\/p>\n

“Music was my first desire, my first wish,” Hopkins said in a statement. “I’ve been composing music all my life. Some of these pieces have lived with me for decades and I still find myself returning to them.”<\/p>\n

Born in Port Talbot, Wales, Hopkins began playing piano at age 4 and was performing works by Beethoven and Chopin just a few years later. As a teenager in the 1950s, he started composing music for local theater productions.<\/p>\n

The album’s first release, “Bracken Road” from “Hopkins’ 1947: Suite for Solo Piano and Orchestra,” takes inspiration from the neighborhood surrounding his childhood home.<\/p>\n

“My deepest gratitude and respect go to Maestro Gustavo Dudamel, whose artistry is an integral part of this musical journey,” Hopkins added. “With the graceful precision of his baton, he transformed each note with profound and indelible meaning, creating a pictorial landscape that invites the listener to feel and imagine something uniquely personal.”<\/p>\n

Proceeds from sales of the “Life Is a Dream” CD and vinyl will be donated to the United Nations Development Fund to support the people of Venezuela, according to the label.<\/p>\n

Hopkins has spent more than six decades as one of Hollywood’s most acclaimed actors<\/a>. The two-time Academy Award winner earned Oscars for “The Silence of the Lambs”<\/a> and “The Father” and has starred in “The Remains of the Day,” “Nixon,” “Thor” and “The Two Popes.”<\/p>\n

Most recently, Hopkins starred opposite Bill Skarsg\u00e5rd in the 2025 psychological thriller “Locked.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
