Hayden Panettiere<\/a> has pulled out of a scheduled public appearance at the last minute due to an unknown “emergency.”<\/p>\n The 36-year-old actress was set to appear at the horror event Creep I.E. Aftermath in Ontario, Calif., on Saturday, July 11, and Sunday, July 12, but was unable to attend as planned due to what event organizers simply described as an “emergency.”<\/p>\n The official Creep I.E. Con Instagram account shared the update<\/a> to the event’s roster on Friday, July 10.<\/p>\n “Hayden Panettiere has an emergency and will not be able to attend this weekend. We are looking forward to her appearing at an upcoming show,” the statement read.\u00a0<\/p>\n The convention’s post also noted that a new guest would appear in Panettiere’s place following the last-minute cancellation. The guest was later identified<\/a> as actress Dominique Swain, known for her roles in 1997’s Lolita <\/em>and Face\/Off<\/em>.<\/p>\n The Scream 4<\/em><\/a> actress has not publicly addressed her absence from the event. A rep for Panettiere did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment on Saturday, July 11.<\/p>\n Panettiere \u2014 known in the horror world for her work in the Scream<\/em> franchise as well as the 2015 video game Until Dawn<\/em> \u2014 was scheduled to appear at the event alongside stars including Christopher Lloyd<\/a>, Mira Sorvino<\/a>, Tara Reid<\/a>, Billy Zane<\/a> and Jamie Campbell<\/a>.<\/p>\n The event previously teased Panettiere’s weekend slot on social media<\/a> as a “rare” Scream 4 <\/em>reunion, as she was set to appear at the event alongside costar Nico Tortorella<\/a>.<\/p>\n The actress was not the only star to pull out of Creep I.E. Aftermath, with the event’s website<\/a> noting that Tori Spelling<\/a> also canceled her appearance.
