The World Cup so far has seen plenty of royalty fly to North America<\/a> to cheer on their teams: King Felipe watched Spain in Guadalajara<\/a>, Norway\u2019s Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Prince Sverre Magnus have been at two games in New Jersey<\/a>, and the Jordanian royals were at every group stage match<\/a> that their country played in.<\/p>\n

Notably absent so far are any members of the British royal family, especially Prince William, the royal patron of England\u2019s Football Association. He revealed<\/a> on Travis Kelce and Jason Kelce\u2019s \u201cNew Heights\u201d podcast last week, though, that he doesn\u2019t plan to go unless England make the finals. Prince William did not travel to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where England lost the quarterfinals, nor the 2023 Women\u2019s World Cup in Australia, where England made it to the finals.<\/p>\n

He did go to Istanbul, Turkey in May to watch Aston Villa play in the Europa League final<\/a>, and has attended various Euros games, including the men\u2019s championships in 2024 with Prince George<\/a>, and he attended the women\u2019s finals in Switzerland last summer alongside Princess Charlotte<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s unlikely any other members of the British royal family would go to this afternoon\u2019s game in Miami instead of William; on New Heights<\/em>, the Prince also revealed that King Charles is not a soccer fan, saying, \u201cMy father hates football.\u201d In addition, the Wimbledon finals are taking place this weekend, and Kate Middleton frequently attends both the men\u2019s and women\u2019s finals<\/a>.<\/p>\n
