Lizzo <\/b><\/a>is getting real about her ongoing wellness and weight loss journey<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are a lot of reasons. People always want to make it one single headline, one single thing. A lot of things can be true at once,\u201d Lizzo, 38, told The Guardian<\/i><\/span><\/a> <\/i>in a Saturday, July 11, profile, when asked to explain why she decided to focus on slimming down. \u201cI was in a place where my physical weight was causing joint pain and aches.\u201d<\/p>\n

The musician continued, \u201cI also got to the point where I came off the internet, and all I had was the studio and my thoughts, so I poured myself into the things I could control. My body, my lifestyle, my routines and habits \u2026 and this is who I am today.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lizzo has been steadily losing weight since 2024, frequently denying that using GLP-1s like Ozempic or Wegovy contributed to her progress. (GLP-1s are often prescribed to individuals who struggle with weight-related conditions. Doctors have since cautioned<\/span><\/a> individuals from using the controversial drug for casual weight loss.)<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tCourtesy of Lizzo\/Instagram Lizzo is celebrating both big and small goals in her ongoing and \u201cintentional\u201d weight loss journey. \u201cI did it,\u201d the Grammy-winning rapper, 36, wrote via Instagram on Saturday, January 25. \u201cToday when I stepped on my scale, I reached my weight release goal.\u201d She added, \u201cI haven\u2019t seen this number since 2014! [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

For Lizzo, her weight has since fluctuated.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cI\u2019ve gained 20 pounds since last year, so everyone can ask me about weight gain, too, if they\u2019d like,\u201d she told The Guardian<\/i>, further detailing her worries about society\u2019s hyper-fixation on physical appearance. \u201cThere\u2019s a system of oppression that is constantly putting pressure on, especially women and especially women in the spotlight. That system is unrelenting and it is determined to make you feel shit about yourself. It won\u2019t stop until you\u2019ve bought every product and you\u2019ve bought into every lie and turned it in on yourself. That system is working at an all-time high right now.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Lizzo, she\u2019s exponentially worried about the effects of such a system as \u201con the people it\u2019s oppressing.\u201d<\/p>\n
