Teen Wolf<\/em>\u2018s Dylan Sprayberry<\/strong> opened up about his journey to becoming a Scientologist after battling drug addiction.<\/p>\n

Sprayberry, 28, addressed his affiliation with Scientology in an Instagram video<\/a> on Sunday, July 12, after fans noticed him sharing \u201creally cool informational videos\u201d about the organization.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am a Scientologist. I\u2019ve been a Scientologist for three years now. It\u2019s been an epic experience for me,\u201d the actor said on Sunday. \u201cIt\u2019s been so fantastic.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sprayberry explained that he found Scientology after getting sober. \u201cA little bit earlier on in my sobriety, I was having this feeling where I\u2019m really proud of myself and I do feel the difference of being off of drugs,\u201d he recalled. \u201cBut I started to really think back on my life and the decisions that I had made and I was like, \u2018OK, well, the reason why I got on drugs in the first place was because when I was a teenager, I was experiencing tons of anxiety and depression.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tTyler Posey, Dylan O\u2019Brien and Holland Roden made names for themselves on\u00a0Teen Wolf, and since the show ended, the cast has kept busy. The MTV series \u2014 a reboot of the 1985 film with Michael J. Fox \u2014 followed a group of teenagers made up of werewolves, hunters, humans and more as they navigated high [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

After his mental health challenges became \u201cmore and more crippling,\u201d Sprayberry began \u201cself-medicating.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOnce I made that decision, I was a chronic drug user for about 10 years. Around 23 is when I first got sober,\u201d he said. \u201cAbout two years in[to sobriety], I was trying to handle that anxiety and that depression with these drugs. Now that I was sober, I could tell that it\u2019s still there. It\u2019s just suppressed. That was tough, but I had to confront it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sprayberry\u2019s search for solutions<\/a> introduced him to the Church of Scientology.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was lucky enough to meet some amazing Scientologists and the first thing that you do as a Scientologist \u2014 when you start doing your services \u2014 is something called the purification rundown,\u201d he explained. \u201cThe purification rundown is what it sounds like. It\u2019s basically a detox program that gets drugs and toxins out of your body for good. I did that and it was awesome. It was so much fun, because I\u2019m a very active person, so doing the detox program with the running and the sauna sweat felt so good.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sprayberry also credited L. Ron Hubbard<\/strong>\u2018s book The Way to Happiness<\/em> for helping to change his outlook. \u201cI had a huge realization \u2014 which sounds so silly to say now \u2014 but it was that happiness is not something that I have to get,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s something that I create within myself. I\u2019ve been creating my state of being all this time. The whole reason I was depressed and anxious and all that stuff was because I was not being that person who creates happiness for myself.\u201d<\/p>\n
