Wai Ching Ho, the actress known for her work in Marvel projects including \u201cDaredevil,\u201d has died, her family said. <\/p>\n
She was 82 years old. <\/p>\n
Ho\u2019s family confirmed her death in a statement.<\/p>\n
\u201cHer family are deeply grateful for the incredible outpouring of love and support and the many beautiful messages and memories people have shared about our beloved Wai,\u201d her family wrote. \u201cReading how much she meant to so many is comforting to us during this difficult time.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ho\u2019s cause of death was not immediately revealed.<\/p>\n
Ho, from Hong Kong, got her first U.S. acting credit in 1983 with a role in the soap opera, \u201cOne Life To Live,\u201d according to the actress\u2019 IMDb page<\/a>. <\/p>\n She was best known for her role as Madame Gao in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, first in \u201cDaredevil\u201d in 2015, followed by \u201cIron Fist\u201d and \u201cThe Defenders,\u201d both of which aired in 2017.<\/p>\n Ho held a number of other roles over the course of her decades-long career, including in \u201cLaw and Order: Special Victims Unit,\u201d \u201cOrange is the New Black,\u201d \u201cNew Amsterdam\u201d and \u201cOnly Murders in the Building.\u201d <\/p>\n In 2022, she voiced Grandma Wu in Pixar\u2019s \u201cTurning Red.\u201d <\/p>\n Some of Ho\u2019s co-stars took to social media to celebrate her life. <\/p>\n \u201cI won\u2019t ever forget you. I learned every minute from you when we were together on and off set,\u201d Peter Shinkoda wrote on Instagram<\/a>. \u201cI know wisdom \u2014 I\u2019d hang on your every word. We will meet again, my friend. You were beautiful.\u201d <\/p>\n Judy Lei recalled working with Ho on her first movie in 2019, writing that the seasoned actress had \u201cgrace\u201d toward Lei\u2019s lack of on-set experience. <\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m so sad to hear of her passing,\u201d Lei wrote on Instagram<\/a>. <\/p>\n Perry Young, who played Ho\u2019s husband in \u201cHigh Resolution,\u201d wrote on Instagram<\/a> that she \u201cwas a kind, compassionate human being whose work as an artist lifted every production to a higher standard, and we are better for it.\u201d <\/p>\n \u201cRest in power dear friend,\u201d Young wrote. <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
