Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass <\/em>is in theaters now<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\nGail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass<\/em><\/a>is perhaps the summer\u2019s most absurd comedy. Vincent\u2019s backstory brought about a significant PEOPLE-themed moment for the movie, which writer-director Wain, 56, says was \u201cso much fun\u201d to create at the movie\u2019s June 23 premiere in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo we had a very, very low budget,\u201d he said. \u201cOur incredible production designer, Justin Lieb, put together the \u201870s People<\/em> magazine offices, even though we were saying it\u2019s 2007, and we just had a lot of fun mocking up old covers and stuff like that.\u201d<\/p>\n\u201cI think we got some sort of approval. We definitely were not allowed to use any actual photos or covers or anything, so we had to create fictional ones for all of that,\u201d he adds. \u201cAnd we had a lot of fun because there\u2019s a whole sequence where Ken Marino\u2019s character shows all the different articles he did, and so we had fun creating those graphics. I did a lot of them.\u201d<\/p>\n
Marino and Deutch, 31, costar in Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass<\/em> with Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Ben Wang, Tobie Windham, Sabrina Impacciatore, Joe Lo Truglio, Fred Melamed and more. Hamm and Slattery are no strangers to Wain and Marino\u2019s goofy comedies. Hamm previously starred in Wain\u2019s 2007 comedy The Ten<\/em>, while both he and Slattery appeared in the 2015 Netflix prequel series Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp<\/em>, which debuted the same year Mad Men <\/em>wrapped its seven-season run.<\/p>\n\u201cI always think it\u2019s so fun to have an actor playing themselves, and you tweak a couple things [about their personality],\u201d Wain says. \u201cI remember that at first from Being John Malkovich<\/em>, and Jon is so funny and such an appreciator of comedy, and a friend and someone I\u2019ve worked with in the past, so it\u2019s sort of the perfect thing.
