Since his 2016 split from ex-wife Angelina Jolie<\/a>, Oscar-winning actor Brad Pitt<\/a> has been estranged from their six children\u2014Maddox, 24; Pax, 22; Zahara, 21; Shiloh, 20; and twins Knox and Vivienne, 18. At least five have publicly distanced themselves from their father and stopped using the Pitt name, including Zahara.<\/p>\n

At her graduation from Spelman College in May 2026, Zahara dropped Pitt\u2019s last name and accepted her diploma as Zahara Marley Jolie<\/a>. She\u2019d already introduced herself as Zahara Marley Jolie when joining the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority in November 2023.<\/p>\n

Now, according to court documents obtained by TMZ<\/em><\/a>, Zahara has officially taken legal action to remove Pitt from her name. The outlet reported that she recently completed a key California requirement for a legal name change by publishing notice of her request in the Los Angeles Daily Journal for four consecutive weeks (June 16, June 23, June 30, and July 7), inviting any objections before the final hearing.<\/p>\n

Zahara\u2019s court hearing is scheduled for September 28, when a judge will decide on her request if no objections are brought forward.<\/p>\n

A source close to Pitt told TMZ<\/em> that they believe Jolie \u201ccaused the rift\u201d between the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood star and the kids, saying, \u201cThis is just the latest chapter in the very sad and never-ending campaign to alienate children from their father.\u201d<\/p>\n

This comes after a Us Weekly<\/em><\/a> report stated that Pitt wishes he had a better relationship with his children<\/a>. \u201cHe feels most hurt out of everything that happened with Angie that his children don\u2019t want a public association with his last name,\u201d a source told the outlet in late May 2026. \u201cIt\u2019s been very difficult.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite the continued distance, the insider alleged that Pitt \u201cstill does hope and keeps the door open to eventual reconciliation, hopefully with all of them, but it is their decision. He has no power and he can\u2019t force them.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
