The Bachelorette <\/em>and Bachelor in Paradise <\/em>star Joe Amabile revealed that he has been diagnosed with a brain tumor.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n “They say it’s really early stages,” he told his Instagram followers on Monday. “I hope they are able to get it all, and I’m fine. But I will keep you updated.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n Amabile said he will be undergoing a craniotomy in two weeks to remove the “blueberry-sized lesion.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Bachelor <\/em><\/a>Nation<\/a> <\/em>alum Joe Amabile<\/a> is opening up about some startling medical news he recently received.<\/p>\n “So a little medical update,” the beloved reality contestant known by fans as “Grocery Store Joe” began in a video shared to his Instagram<\/a> on Monday. After undergoing a full-body MRI scan, Amabile said his doctors “ended up finding a lesion in my brain. So then I had to go get a brain MRI, and there was a blueberry-sized lesion in my brain that looks to be a glioma, which is a tumor.”<\/p>\n With heaviness in his voice and a smile on his face, Amabile told his nearly 1 million followers that he will “now need to get brain surgery in two weeks to get it removed and get it tested, and then we’re gonna go from there. So it’s been a wild couple weeks. Definitely wasn’t expecting this.”<\/p>\n “I think it’s one of those things where you’re like, ‘Oh, something like this will never happen to me’ \u2014 and here I am,” he continued. “They say it’s really early stages. I hope they are able to get it all, and I’m fine. But I will keep you updated.”<\/p>\n In the caption of the post, Amabile reflected that the “past month has been a lot of ups and downs to say the least.” What started with “multiple scans and MRIs” ended up as a diagnosis with “what looks to be an early stage brain tumor. In two weeks I’ll be undergoing a craniotomy to have it removed \u2014 yeah brain surgery.”<\/p>\n Amabile tagged New York City’s renowned Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where he will be undergoing the operation. I’m doing my best to stay positive during this time and am lucky to have a lot of support from family and friends,” he wrote. “I’ve gone back and forth about what I wanted to share on social media but ultimately this is now part of my life now, so might as well. Onto a new journey.”<\/p>\n After working as the co-owner of Eric’s Food Center in Chicago, Amabile got his start in reality as a contestant on season 14 of The Bachelorette<\/em>.
