The Cincinnati Reds<\/a> are near the bottom of the National League standings and should be looking to sell at the trade deadline.<\/p>\n

Third baseman Eugenio Suarez is one name<\/a> who could switch teams in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n

Like Suarez, catcher Tyler Stephenson<\/a>‘s contract is expiring. He may make sense for the New York Yankees<\/a> if they are unable to acquire Ryan Jeffers or Hunter Goodman<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Reds’ pitching staff likely has a few arms that could be traded at the deadline. Right-hander Brady Singer<\/a> is one of them, writes FanSided’s Zachary Rotman<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“Brady Singer was a rock-solid back-end starter for the Reds last season who took the ball every fifth day and gave them a chance to win most of the time,” Rotman wrote. “That has not been the case this season, as evidenced by his MLB-leading nine losses.”<\/p>\n

Singer, who spent the first five seasons of his career with the Kansas City Royals<\/a>, has a 4.72 ERA and 20 home runs allowed in 89.2 innings this season.<\/p>\n

He may not be a solution for the front of a club’s rotation, but he could be a fifth starter who transitions to the bullpen when the postseason arrives.<\/p>\n

“As underwhelming as he’s been, Singer should generate some interest given the fact that, at the very least, he’s a proven innings-eater,” Rotman added. “Given that, and the fact that he’s on an expiring contract, it should be obvious to move him.”<\/p>\n

As the final few months of the season progress, there will always be an organization that needs someone to throw mop-up innings.<\/p>\n

Singer can be that guy for a contending club. Who knows, maybe he becomes a valuable member of a bullpen somewhere.<\/p>\n
